Had a pretty cool weekend.
Wanna read about it?

Well, okay then.

It kind of started Thursday night.
I went to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel live to watch Queens of the Stone Age perform with a few friends.
But, we waited around (drinking beer) so long for them to come on, that I ended up getting a little too hammered.
Plus, my friend locked his keys in his car, so, we ended up leaving before they played and grubbing bar food over at the Lucky Strike bowling alley. (Thanks Anyssa!) kiss

Friday night went to Bar 107 to hang out with friends old and new and to listen my buddy Kevin spin pretty French Pop singles.
If you live in the L.A. area, you really should check this bar out. It's pretty cool.

Saturday, I hung out with my brother all day and then later, had dinner and caught a movie with my wife.
We went and saw "A History of Violence" the new David Cronenberg movie. It sucked so bad, it pains me to even think about it. puke

Sunday, we went to the West Hollywood Book Fair.
That was totally fun. We saw so many interesting people just walking around it was kind of neat. It was a vertible who's who of the counter culture and/or people I respect intellectually and/or artistically.
People like Mike Watt, Raymond Pettibon, Janeane Garofalo, Bill Maher and Richard Hell.
Robbie Conal even signed the book I bought chronicling his guerilla poster art.
So yeah, that was cool.

And then later that night, we went to the premiere of our friend MJ's movie, "Freeze Out" which was part of the Westwood Film Festival. It was really fucking good, I was totally impressed.
Keep an eye out for that one.

We leave Wednesday for tour. We'll be on the road for the rest of October.
Then, we're back home for a few weeks, then, we're back out until the end of December.
It'll be fun, but, I'm going to miss my wife terribly.

It's a dirty job...

The Blows met with a costume designer named Ben last night.
He does costumes for The Locust and Le Tigre.
He's got some great ideas for some new and greatly improved 400 Blows haute couture.
So, sometime around December, be on the look out for our new "look". wink

Oh, and by the way, as of October 23 (my birthday) I'm letting my SG membership lapse.
Time to start pinchin' pennies.
So, I guess this is "goodbye", for a while at least.

It's been real, keep it creepy.

Not much happenin' really.
We've got a show this Saturday at Spaceland with Nate Denver's Neck and Yikes featuring John Dwyer of Coachwhips and Pink & Brown fame.
Plus Kevin Fitzgerald of The Circle Jerks and John Wahl from Clawhammer will be fucking around in between bands.
Should be fun.

Beth and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary yesterday.
Went to the Basquiat show at the Museum of Contemporary Art here in L.A.
Then had sushi at the same place we always have sushi; the first place we ever had dinner together.
Love being married to that woman.
I am one lucky son of a bitch.

Back from short west coast tour.
Some good shows, some not so great but still pretty good.
Tired.
Home for a month then back out Oct, Nov and Dec.
My back hurts just thinking about it.
Much love to SF/Bay Area and Portland.
Good folks, good times.

Just got back from another road trip.
This time; up the California coast along Hwy 1.
Drove through San Francisco, Marin, Novato, Pt. Arena, Mendocino, etc.
Made it as far as Ft. Bragg.
Camped at a great site in Mendocino called Caspar beach.
Beautiful sandy beach nestled in a red wooded cove.
Incredibly beautiful.

Then we took the 101 south back home so we could drive through and take a look at Ukiah, Healdsburg, etc.
Ultimately, we'd like to move up there somewhere, some day so we were looking at houses and checking out the schools and restaurants and all that.

We car-camped all along the way and we brought the dogs along with us this time too.
Really fun, we had a great time.

So now I'm back home for 4 days and then I leave again.
This time i'll be with the band.
Check the tour dates.
European dates are posted now too.

Back to Los Angeles
Back to work
Back to the grind
Back to the smog
Back to the heat
Back to reality

But also, back to my home, back to my dogs.
Missed them something awful.

Vacation was great.
Road trips with the wife rule.

Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe, New Mexico is amazing.

Then a week of fishing, horseback riding, reading, eating, drinking wine and playing Scrabble in a little cabin on the banks of Rainbow Lake in Colorado.
Awesome.

And then a few days and nights in Las Vegas.
Mandalay Bay is a great place to stay.

The end

Looking forward to the weekend.
Old friend from San Francisco coming over tonight with a band from Italy called Motorama. Looking forward to seeing play and hanging out with them.

400 Blows is playing tomorrow night in San Francisco. Always love playing San Francisco.

I'm not sick anymore, which is great.
I always learn to appreciate my health when I'm sick.
I couldn't get my tooth fixed last week because I was too sick.
Had to cancel our show at Cinespace because I was too sick.
I'll finally get my tooth fixed on Monday, hopefully.

I cut all my hair off.
I look really normal now, like mr. nice guy with a snaggle tooth.

It's hotter than fuck in L.A., hope the weather in the Bay Area is cooler.

wife's surgery postponed (her primary care physician sent the wrong file to her surgeon. luckily, she noticed the wrong birthdate on the file; right name, wrong birthday = wrong patient file. that shit is scary) went surfing saturday after about a 15 year break from surfing. super fun, but i'm still sore. car camped on the beach with wife and dogs. it was "red tide" down there so at night, when the waves break, the white wash glows bright blue from all the phosphorescent algea. it looks bitchin. had two good shows over the weekend. tegan got a new job. "yay" for tegan. (wake up sleepyhead!) got a new washer and dryer from craig's list. craig's list rules. my friend zak rules for helping me pick up new washer and dryer and helping me dispopse of old washer and dryer and for driving me down to san diego and then later, dropping me off in san enofre. good friends rule. washers and dryers rule. primary care physicians sending the right file to your surgeon rules. we still have mice. mice don't rule, they're cute, but they don't rule, they shit and piss everywhere and they chew through stuff you need. cats rule, wish we had one. the end. miao!!

Global terrorism, a broken tooth, new therapist, wife's surgery, upcoming shows, irritating co-worker, the return of Tegan, mice, we need a new washer and dryer. This is what's on my mind today. Thank you.
