Home again...
We're back home, have been for about a week. We're trying to get honey working... otherwise there will be the good ole child support issues again. And having played that game before, I don't want to play again. He's got one that will be there in September if he could wait that long, but alas, we can't. He just went yesterday to apply at another place, which looks promising. So, cross your fingers for me please.

The good news, today we went and got an air conditioner! Last night it didn't get below 80 degrees. And 80 degrees in high humidity, with little air movement (we only have a little fan).

Today we're packing all the stuff in our room... Tomorrow is check-out. I have no idea what's going to be going on tomorrow and after. It's all being rather off the hip. I'm hoping that tomorrow we'll be able to get the boat towed to the marina we're supposed to be moving to. We'll also be needing to try to start organizing the boat. There are bags of stuff everywhere, as we haven't actually started cleaning and using storage spaces at all... so they're filling the whole salon and we haven't even finished unpacking the truck.... Plus, in the middle of June, we're going to be driving back up to Philadelphia and getting Alan and more stuff... lol... I have a feeling that the empty engine box is going to end up being vital storage space... (Of course it also needs to be battery bank space too...

This weekend's going to be the last in the hotel. We're going to be moving the boat this week, (Tuesday or Wednesday). There's part of me that's super excited, and part of me just really worried... There's SO little space in that boat, and being in a marina, will be... well, interesting. (When I've been in a marina, I usually spend more time inside then I do when I'm anchored out or at a mooring.)

Been here a little over a week and loving Florida. Maybe it's cause it's been so long, maybe it's cause I really love the tropical environment, but everything seems to be better in Florida. Even the mall here seems to be better to me. Just waking up and looking at the window, I see palm trees... and it just brings me joy.

Today we have another "meeting" with the people we got the boat from. We're going to be talking about boatyards and where to take the boat to haul it out so we can get to the "real" work on the boat. There's a lot to do, but most either needs to be done in the yard, or we need money for... or both. Other projects we're going to need to get Alan down here for.

Hoping that this summer we'll be able to have the boat enough together to have it back in the water and I want to get it down to the Keys. I'd love to be able to get settled into my new life. This living in limbo isn't what I want to be doing... but I suppose it's the step necessary before my new life.

Well, I'm now in Florida! We got down here safely on Sunday, spent the first couple nights aboard the boat while we worked on figuring out what we were going to do. (It's illegal to live aboard in Cape Coral, where the boat is now.) We're now in an extended stay hotel. Of course the day after we got in here, the alternator in the car broke... Well, we ordered the piece and just got it today. We'll be putting it in this afternoon.... then we can resume our lives.

the boat's going to take a lot of work to get ready, and there's only so much that Steve and I feel comfortable doing. Some of the work's going to need to wait for Alan to come down to do/direct. I'm really looking forward to getting back aboard, and being in the Keys. There's still a lot we're going to need to get settled with being down there... Trying to get two businesses started is going to take a bit... not having internet except on occasion... getting used to limited power again... After 6 years in Philly, on land, (or in a marina), has really changed me in a lot of ways. I actually care about having a connection via the internet with people now... plus, my business will need it....

One step at a time...

Ok, we ended up not being able to leave today... We're trying this again today...

So, for those of you who may come across this, but haven't been following, here's the whole story:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

In Feb 2004 I moved aboard a sailboat in the FL Keys. I LOVED IT! I mean it really rocked my world, I oozed joy through my pores. I actually sometimes had people be mean to me because of how happy I was. By the end of summer of 2005, we wanted to visit with family, so we took the sailboat and brought it up to Philadelphia where my family lives. We were going to spend 3 months visiting, then go back down to the islands either back to Key West or to the USVI.

Well, it didn't work out that way. We never seemed to catch up enough with money to be able to get back down island... I even tried to head back down in 2009. Only got as far as North Carolina... We ended up selling the boat. It was heartbreaking.

We've been through SO much since then that I won't get into... if you really want to know, ask and I'll tell you... but it's all a long sob story that resembles a soap opera more then I'd ever really like to admit.

Which brings us to now...
Last month, (or maybe it was 2 months now)... we found a boat. We've been working towards being able to buy the boat and make the move back to south Florida. We've finally been able to get to the point where we're ready to take the very first step... moving onto the boat. We'll have a TON of work to on the boat. It's barely more then a shell... but it's the first step to getting back to the life I love.

Ok trying the 16hr 15m count down again.
