well... that was interesting.

less than an hour after the girls were picked up, I suddenly had words combined with memoria start pullin' at my brainpan (and not of the greatest time of my life, either)... but as I pulled out a peice of paper quickly and started writing before I lost it - I realized the words weren't necessarily a bad thing... the opposite, actually.

So - here it is, like it or hate it, the first poetica of 2012 ...

poetica : Rememberin' ('96/'97)

in the Red River Valley
on the Dakota side
livin' outta my car
in the wintertime
helped by generosity
of those few rare souls
who know what it's like
and how it goes


knowin' from the start
only a face or two
things went bad to worse
but I refused to lose
a girl I'd trusted
made those first year's hell
I was laid down low
but I never fell


I lost a couple o'friends
and I took to drink
but it didn't last long
and I still can think
it may've been tough
but I still got by
made some demn good friends
t'whom I still say "hi"


though it ain't a trial
I'd wish on anyone
I can still proudly say
that it CAN be done
with just a little luck
and a lotta will
from where I stood then
it was all uphill


and for those who think
they've got things hard
'cuz their cable's out
or they've maxed their card
their celphone sucks
or they can't get laid
I'll just turn and laugh
and walk the hell away...
