The "Rent-pocalypse"

Holy humerous hells...
What kind of person honestly thinks that they can just up and hire someone to re-carpet and paint their apartment and that the people he contracts wouldn't call the complex to confirm?
Not only did I get to see said person try bitching out the person he'd hired for telling him they can't do it per the management, but just after he'd told the guy that he "owns the apartment" the manager was walking up saying "rent, you rent the apartment and your apartment has the new carpeting and was painted when you moved in."
She even nodded and smiled at me as I passed her and them.
Not looking good for the renter, I'd say.
*shakes head*
Do people even read their leases and/or know their rights as a renter?
