I just remembered I never posted the finished version of my hip-piece!
It's rather tiny compared with the new one but I still love it. This was done by my friend who was still an apprentice at the time. This was only the second tattoo he ever did on a human being, keeping that in mind the quality is remarkable =)
Instead of getting some illustrative work done I doodled a bit instead. It was great fun but time to focus again. I saw a wonderful documentary about the meiko lifestyle and felt inspired to make this geisha drawing.

-taking a break-
At last the first sunrays are showing themselves. I don't actually go into the sun because my Belgian skin doesn't agree with it that much, but I do enjoy the sight of all those brigth colours outside. And so I got inspired to put some colour in my hair again ^_^.
Altough I'm still working hard for the final jury, I'm taking a little break from it all. Last weekend I went to the Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Convention in Antwerp. It was great fun and was able to have a nice deal on some comics I bought.
But now I'm mostely looking forward to my next tattoo session! Next monday we're picking up the pace again. Hopefully the artist's time estimate will be more or less precise, and in that case my new piece will be done within the next month. It's big and beautiful =D

-Pondering the future-
I finished my thesis, all rejoice! Tomorrow I'll see my professor about it, fingers crossed it doesn't need too much change. I dedicated a part of it to the art of tattooing, what was very interesting to write about.
I even have the strong desire now to learn it myself. It is a wonderful amalgamation of true craftsmanship and art, but ofcourse I know everybody around here already appreciates that stuff ^_^
But for now, back to drawing. I need the finish way too much illustrations for my final jury in june. If I succeed, I will be officially an illustrator =)
The subject is way too awesome. I have to illustrate a russian novel, The Master and Margarita. t's about the devil who visits Moscow.
The new tattoo is coming along nicely, but it will still take a while. I'm still in doubt whether or not put some previews here, but I have a tendency towards waiting until it's all finished up.

My apologies to all my buddies on here, I had to disappear for a while due to some problems. I am thinking about making a new set soon though, but first I want to get my new ink finished, which still can take a month or two ^_^
I can't wait to show it, it's quite a huge piece, going all the way from my tush to my shoulder, all over the ribs and down my belly.
In the meantime I got into my last year of university, and the end is drawing nearer. Exciting times ahead. Right now I'm writing my ass off on my thesis. So I better get some more work done before getting too carried away by browsing pics here

My apologies to all my buddies on here, I had to disappear for a while due to some problems. I am thinking about making a new set soon though, but first I want to get my new ink finished, which still can take a month or two ^_^

-The tattoo, the set, the good news-
I had some great news. My work will be shown in the Guislain museum in Ghent, my favorite museum ^_^.
But more amazing is that the work will be in the catalogue too. That is quite a tough selection!
Also don't forget, today my set goes up. I wonder how it will be received. But I'm very happy with the feel.
Silly enough I got tattood just after the making of the set. I'm getting a piece on my hip/upper leg, in a nice old school style. It's a dios de los muertos theme, something that fascinates me and has some meaning for me. I only got the linework finished now, but soon I'll get it shaded and coloured.

I finished the selection for my new set, so fingers crossed it get's accepted. I attached some of the pictures that didn't get picked, but were still very nice. They just didn't fit in the whole thing.
Yesterday I got a lucky break and found a dead pigeon in perfect condition. I always wanted to have a bird for my collection stuff in jars. Soon I'll be assembling my first skeleton, the next step in my learning process of the art of taxidermia. It's my pet rat that died suddenly, sadly enough. But I must admit I'm nog looking forward to clean the bones =/.

I've got a new goal in life: to learn how to tatoo. I'm training myself again in realism and some typical tatoo style stuff, which is quite different from the contemporary art scene I am in now. Hopefully this way I can built a nice portfolio to go and seek for a master :p . This summer I'll safe up for some gear.
