yeah, I caught that article earlier today on Yahoo. Fucking obnoxious, not to mention out of line and extremely insulting. The idiots behind this need to suffer major reprocussions.

Also, I am very much against ID/creationism being taught in the Classroom as well, specifically the science classroom (some people have said it COULD be taught in a philosophy classroom, or in the way that Greek Mythology is taught, but I find that to be somewhat insulting). I do not think that it could be taught with the same conviction that most science teachers educate the students about evolution, which is understandable, but in some ways unfair. However, I do beleive that when teachers are dealing with the topic of evolution, they should be more aware of the fact that a vast majority of their students do in fact come from religious households. Does that mean they should leave out any of the logistics of evolution? No way! However, I do not think it necessary for there to be an underlying, condescending tone, or even a comparison drawn in the classroom. In fact, they should just be relaying it as it stands: Evolution is a scientific theory that has stong, ever expanding evidence to support it. If anyone has questions about any other theory or idea of how we got here, the kids should be instructed to speak with their parents. That gets me on a whole other topic, you know, teachers NOT being parents, but rather, just the teachers and parents' responsibility in the reering of their child...

Sorry, don't mean to come off as preachy, but my generation of, or rather introduction to secular thought, came at the time of Clinton where everything had to be PC, as long, of course, as it didn't pertain to american judaism and christianity. It was weird, because as I was just learning about things like the holocaust and completely having my life transformed though gaining knowledge of those atrocities, looking back it seems that the teachers that I had were growing, if not already, tired of having to talk about these horrific yet important events. There were things I beleived in, moral issues that I believed in and I felt as though being in a secular educational environment, I was made to think that my beliefs were childish, almost barbaric and outdated. It was a true slap in the face, if only brief, to have the info regarding evolution delivered to me and in the way that it was. Personally, now, I feel that there is a marriage between both theories and perhaps one day we will find the answer that reveals that we got here through a combination of both ideas on the matter. However, I get sick of every other race, religion and creed (outside of Judaism and Christianity) getting the red carpet treatment, while the rest of us must pander to their insecurities and morally unsound ways of life, only to have us be treated as though we are thrid world immigrants in our own country. I do not know if you share that view, being that you live in the UK, but there is absolutely NO sense of nationalism in this country anymore, and those of us who can trace our family trees back to the first settlers here are nothing more than aliens on our own soil. Yes, I am feeling angsty today...
