Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're trying to be so quiet?

Lately I have this amazing ability to be attracted to women that fall into three different categories:

1) Women that have complete douchebag boyfriends.
2) Women that are completely batshit crazy.
3) Some combination of the above two, up to and including women that recently had complete douchebag boyfriends.

It's pretty annoying.

p.s.: If you're reading this, you aren't a douchebag. Just so you know.
p.p.s.: Most of you failed at sending me exciting text messages. My number is in the last one, so you can try again! or try, as the case may be.

I think I need a vacation or something.

I've seen some movies in the past few days.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - I really liked this one. I also really liiked the other two. My only complaint with World's End is that the end scene seemed to drag a bit. Most of the people that I've talked to that didn't like this one have said something about the plot being unrealistic, which implies that they were expecting realism from a Disney movie for children based on an amusement park ride. Whatever. It was a fun movie.

Paprika - Weird anime about dreams. I'm not really an anime person, but I enjoyed this one. The animation was pretty amazing. The plot wasn't completely ridiculous, which is typically my chief complaint when it comes to anime. Landmark Varsity has the most uncomfortable seating I've ever experienced in a movie theater.

Downfall - German movie about the last few days of World War II inside the Fuhrerbunker, told from the perspective of Adolf Hitler's personal secretary, Traudl Junge. It's somewhat disturbing because parts of the movie make Hitler look human, but it really shows how deluded he was. Downfall paints an excellent picture of how terrible war can be even if you aren't directly involved in it.

I really wanted to catch the Seattle Independent Film Festival showing of Day Watch last night, but neither of the folks with me had seen the first one so I'm going to have to hold out until it gets to theaters for real. You probably don't remember me mentioning it few months ago, but Night Watch is a Russian occult/action movie similar to Constantine or Blade, but slightly less corny and with awesome animated subtitles. You can see the trailer for Day Watch here. It looks fucking awesome.

A lot of life seems more confusing lately. A lot of it seems...less confusing. I've got to stay away from those ruts that I like to dig myself into. To me stagnation is like drowning, but I never realize it until I'm neck deep.

I'm working in Salt Lake City this week. How exciting.

WHO DARES TO OPERATE A WEED WHACKER RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW AT 9 IN THE MORNING ON MY DAY OFF?!?

I was having this really weird dream about a zoo that had this animal that could change into other animals. So far it had only been a frog, and elephant, and a tiger.

Stupid weedwhacker!

I almost gouged my eye out at work today. You can't really tell by looking at the picture, but it was pretty gnarly. There's a big chunk of skin just hanging off of it:

In other news, Yakima sucks just as much as it did back in July. Holy shit was that a funny journal entry.

I really want these paintings:

and finally I really want to see this movie:

I love how rain smells in the spring.

Not just how rain smells, though. Rain in Seattle doesn't usually have a smell, but today it smelled like spring. It smells like...being a kid. Thunderstorms. I miss thunderstorms and lightning bugs and tornado season.

Not a lot, and not all the time, but I do miss them. I have to get back to Tennessee this summer. Somebody come with me so I don't have to be alone with those crazy relatives of mine.

I hate those days when you come home from work and don't even bother changing out of work clothes before you go to bed, and you have to be back at work when you wake up.

I'm inching ever closer to figuring out what I'm going to do about my work situation. I think a long vacation is in there somewhere.
