I never really realized my mom and my grandmother are text book hoarders. I did see indications of depression, OCD and codependency issues, but never something as weird as hoarding.
Until I had to spend some time back over there. Until I threw away bills from as far back as 10 years ago....and magazines from 1996. And I swept the dust off the walls, dust that was as old as I am.
Then I somehow threw out the deed to the house....and some insurance papers, so everything is my fault again.
Too bad cigarettes are now considered uncool. Good thing whiskey isn't.
