at work with this song stuck in my head
la la la
I was lucky enough to share a hospital room with a gentleman with quite a few problems. His psychiatric difficulties, the stroke he had, and the part of his skull they removed to relieve the pressure were bringing him down enough that he couldn't find the call button, the phone, or the urinal, but not so much that he couldn't gather his faculties when an attractive nurse came in the room.
Rita?
Are you still there Rita?
I want you, Rita.
If I push a button will you come, Rita....
YouTube reminded me of this one. I used to watch the Mike Douglas show. I would have killed at the time to keep my feathered hair from curling and looking like his.

the superfortress was nearly empty and she surely wasn't there the first time i barely found the place and she was much nicer and smarter and smelled wonderful and struck at my weakness for girls that wear toe shoes with sweats and can help me with my SAN problems and jar me temporarily from the funk in which i wallow
I like to sit at the back at the high tables and watch people come an go. The local retirees for the pension plan priced entrees. The under-age looking to get served. The lonely and the lost looking to be out but not visible. They all had their reasons to come here. It wasn't for the sticky tables or spotty flatware. The decor leaves everything to be desired, but the world leaves you alone here with your desires. My desire brought me here. She brought me here because she owed me lunch. She didn't really owe me lunch, but she was far too lovely with which to disagree. I did take her out for some tacos, but that was at Taco Bell and largely on a dare. I was working on her PC when one of the office mavens made some snide remark about how the younger and the lovely's tech problems received much more thorough and prompt attention. Making sure I could be heard, I declared my hunger and asked the maiden if she would like to tie on the feedbag. I didn't get to relish how this grated on old crow's nerves for long because she surprised me and said 'yes'. So, we had are awkward tacos, a few laughs, and went back to work.
The next day, she informed me that she was going to repay her gastronomic debt at her favorite place. That is how we ended up at this out-of-the-way place. We had another nice lunch. I told her stories, made her laugh, and enjoyed every glimmer of her smile and squeak of her laugh. I was seen with her and I enjoyed being seen with her. I enjoyed how the busboys would find excuse to gather by the rail and talk excitedly about her. She was one of life's amusement park rides. I didn't need to defend her. When lunch was over, I and the busboys would both go back to our tired existence. The ride would be over, or so I thought until the bill came. She didn't have enough money to pay it. She said she buy next time though.
Pregnant with infinity. Once a star was bourne here. It's fiery furnace made the entire galaxy dance hot in it rays. No number of tequilas or patio heaters can begin to warm the void left behind.

Stranger in a strange land. Overly dramatic. Not such a strange land. You can still buy coffee at the green store, hamburgers at the yellow store, t-shirts at the red store, and you can't swing a cat in any of them without hitting a girl in a black North Face coat. It is oddly the same and yet foreign to me. I'm free of things that stressed me before and striving to find new stressors to fill the empty space. Old dogs and new tricks. If tough to re-learn, re-form, re-create your life. Habits.
Positive: While still forced by the vagaries of 21st century economy to toil for wages in the employ of another, I no longer have to endure the destructive, idiotic dance of the the morning commute. The problem of people endangering their lives and those of others is still a problem across the world, but it is no longer my problems (short of one traffic light). This morning, I only needed eyelashes to clear the fluffy, floating flakes and not scrapers and wipers to fight the freezing fractals.

Thank God for friends and Ativan to protect you from your own worse enemies. Granted, sometimes Ativan protects you from your friends and sometimes your friends protect you from Ativan, but that's life in the continuum.
i'm going. i'm going but it ain't easy. i'm excited and scared. i've been in the womb so long. i'm anxious. i'm anxious about being anxious. anxiety has consumed me before. gotta' keep it in check.keep moving forward. quit. give up. surrender. move on. do over. ready player two.
