Monday night I saw Agalloch play at this tiny venue downtown, and I had to debate if they were serious sometimes. Really? Who plays a guitar with a goat horn?

It was still a really good show though. They had some weird local opening band with some Peter Steele looking dude at the lead. I didn't know what to think of it. There was also this hilarious French guy in the crowd until he got kicked out for going on stage twice.
Ghost is next week! Their new album is satanic awesome on a disc.
I had more tattoo work done after a long hiatus. I like to put my good friend and tattoo artist to work on overly detailed things.

I spent a good portion of last weekend framing and hanging some prints I've picked up recently and I'm really happy to be sitting in a living room surrounded by cool shit all the time. Sometimes I go to friend's places and there's nothing on the wall, and I just don't get it. Do you like living in a prison? Fuckin' weirdos. Put up some cereal boxes or something. Anything!

I have today off to bury my Grandpa, he died last Friday after we moved him in to that nursing home. The honest thing is I'm glad it was quick rather than stay in that place for much longer. I don't like funerals. Well, it's more like I don't believe in the concept of a funeral as a whole. I'm going for my mom and grandma's sake. I'm a pallbearer as well; double trouble.

Pre-Birthday Post
More concerts have been enjoyed.
That Caspian show I talked about earlier was...Ok. I think I'm done with seeing that kind of post-rock music. Happy to have seen them, but man do I get bored.
Maserati has a living real boy version of the Muppet Animal on the drums. Guy was insane. Really fantastic show.
Clutch and Orange Goblin were so good. I lost my voice from yelling, and the show was pretty rough. I've seen Clutch so much and listened to them for so long it feels almost like a family reunion when they come to town. Orange Goblin is way different from when I first discovered them, but still really good and they're a band I never thought I'd see.
I don't take a lot of pictures at shows, but I got a few.
Orange Goblin

Clutch

Ghost is back in town next month, and headlining, so I'm really excited for that and I'm going to try to get up front to see it.
Personal stuff
I'm starting to date, it's going ok. I'm not taking it too seriously, not that I would really know how to do that anyway, but there's at least been people worth meeting.
I've had some really good nights away from home with a couple people that I feel lucky to be liked by. Probably one of the nicest things anyone has done for me in a long time occurred last night.
I'm reading THE SHIT out of the Halo books. 3.5 books in 2 weeks. I can't stop!
My grandpa was just moved in to a nursing home after a heart attack. I've spent a good few days taking care of their belongings; putting stuff in storage and moving my grandma in with my mom. I'm kind of just on auto pilot for all of it, been ready for some time.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to teach myself the electric guitar.

True update time:
Tattoo progress.

Been on a bit of a hiatus from getting with the artist again just out of being busy. I've gotten his website almost complete though so I don't feel as bad for receiving free work.
Squid painting progress. It's done!

Second painting progress.

It's in progress, I don't want to give away the whole concept but parts of it will be a replica of a Albrecht Dürer woodcut The Four Riders of the Apocalypse.
Music
So many shows coming up.
Just saw Graveyard last night

It was a really great show. Even the guy wearing the vest of the band we're seeing and was really annoying and really tall didn't ruin it for me.
What I have coming up is Red Fang on Saturday, Some post rock bands (Caspian, Maserati) and then Clutch and Orange Goblin. Very excited to see Orange Goblin. Excited to see the post rock groups as well, but Orange Goblin has been on my list for a long time.
Things are still pretty good.

Current state of the tattoo. More work planned for tomorrow. It's taking a long time because we're shading it using stippling instead of a wash, but both the tattoo artist and myself are pretty excited about it.

An added bonus is it's a friend of a friend, and he needs a new website which I'm designing, so the tattoo is basically free.
I saw a really great post-rock band a few weeks ago, El Ten Eleven. It's just a guy on drums and a guy on a double neck guitar using loops. They really blew me away with out effortless it all looked.
I guess you could say I have varied music taste as the concert I went to a few weeks before that was Converge, and they were awesome, though I went a little deaf from the show for a couple days. Worth it.
Work, even though it's supposed to be the off peak season for the "world famous Seattle attraction I work at," has been busier than ever with the holidays. Especially New Years. I still really love it though and I try not to complain too much.
I put a lot of effort in to a few things recently that didn't really pan out, but at least I tried something different.
Outside of work I have been unmotivated on my creative endeavors. The shame of my unfinished projects hang on the walls

My 80% finished squid triptych. Plus my mom's sewing machine I borrowed to make pillows that I abandoned because I couldn't find any cool fabric.

My 0% finished painting I won't let myself start until I finish the squid.
In the grand scheme of things I have things pretty good. The pieces of the puzzle I'm missing are small and I'll find the right fit eventually.

The only thing really new with me is I'm finally working towards getting that tattoo I've wanted for awhile:

- I have a new full-time job doing marketing and graphic design for a major Seattle attraction. It's really busy but very fulfilling and I'm lucky to have it.
-I saw one of the best performances I've seen in a long time by And So I Watch You From Afar, and they were also really great guys from Belfast. Russian Circles, a band I really like, followed them and I was underwhelmed. ASIWYFA
-I'm working on a lot of projects on my free time and I never seem to finish any to my liking.
-Went out in the middle of nowhere on some forest roads to watch the meteor shower last night

My camera isn't very good, but that's a lot of stars.
-I've been changing how I eat since maybe February, been less sedentary, and experimenting with what works for me while creating new habits and I've lost a little over 30 lbs.
-I've been off soda/pop/soft drinks for 2 years. I still think quitting soda gives you better boners.
-On the subject of drinks, my home brewing of beer has been really successful but due to so many projects I haven't been keeping up with my production
-I haven't been around much, nothing personal, you can still talk to me. I've just been busy and haven't been making efforts I normally do. Sorry.
