So since it's Memorial Day tomorrow, I decided to answer a question that I'm asked quite often. What does my tattoo say that is all down my right arm?
It reads like this...
I was that which others did not want to be
I went where others feared to go and did what others feared to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness...should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear; and cried, pained, and hoped...but most of all
I have lived times others would say are best forgotten.
At least one day I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was...An AMERICAN INFANTRYMAN
On my left arm I have a few other quotes as a memorial.
They read like this...
For those who fight for it, Life has a flavour the protected will never know.
and...
God and Soldier we adore in the time of peril, not before the peril ended, all things righted, God forgotten and the Soldier slighted.
Happy Memorial Day
