I've been meaning to write a new blog for a long time.
But I didn't have much to say. Life is good. Calm.
Now that the Little Mr. is in school it's easier for me to organize my time. I clean and work mostly while he's gone so I can spend the afternoons with him. And that's pretty much it.
As for work...

I finished a mini-hat. Haven't made one in more than a year, and even is this isn't my usual hat (it's more of a miniature) it looks good enough.
Sorry for the bad picture, but my phone camera makes no miracles.
Whenever I look at it, I think of Emanuelle. She once made a fascinator she swore she'd never be able to sell. Now it's my turn: I really doubt I'll be able to sell this one.

These ended up like bracelets.

These were turned into necklaces.
(Yes, they're all Snitches. You know I'm a Pottard.
)
I worked a lot and really fast (which I shouldn't, given my nickel allergy) because I was having a booth at some event with Emanuelle. In the end we didn't make it, so all of that (and a lot more) is stocked for the moment.
But it's OK. We'll make it next time.

I also made some cupcakes for Easter.
The bottom is coconut and the frosting is white chocolate ganache. I still need some practice when piping the frosting, but they were definitely the best I've ever baked.
I'm really proud.
So how's everyone been?

So how's everyone been?
So... a whole month has passed since my last blog.
Many things have happened since but whatever they were, they don't seem important now.
The biggest thing has been the impossible pelvic pain I've been experiencing for a little over 2 years and got a lot worse on January 20th. I'm having an ultrasonography on the 22nd to determine if it's a pulled/torn muscle, a hernia or a hatching alien.
(This would explain a lot)
It's almost ironic, because less than a week ago I was making jokes with minimalism about getting a hernia from lifting a box he sent on the mail. Good thing I'm not religious because I might think it was divine retribution from making awful jokes.
(Just to clarify, I'm 100% sure I didn't get hurt from lifting the box -which wasn't that heavy to begin with. As wicked as it sounds, I apparently hurt myself while washing my son's hair.)
As it is, I don't even know which diagnostic would be worse, since I'd eventually need surgery for yet another abdominal condition (diastasis recti).
I always tell people my policy is to stay as far away from the OR as possible, and that's the truth: I'm terribly scared of medical procedures.
I can even tolerate the procedures, but having the scars as reminders just drives me nuts.
I just hope I'm good enough shape to attend to minimalism's party next week as there's people from all over the continent coming. I don't care if I have to sit in a corner, I don't want to miss it!

For a long time people wondered what was my natural hair colour, and the honest answer was "I don't know anymore".
One of the things I wanted to find out when I shaved my head 2 months ago was how gray I had become.
I think I have an answer now.

Too gray.
And now I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it.

The year is coming to an end, and it's been busier than ever!
If having lots of work wasn't enough, I also caught a pretty awful cold/allergy thing. I'm still not sure what it is, but not being able to breathe properly is the worst feeling ever!
I still managed to make a few things for myself, included a cinnamon roll-esque brooch and churro necklace.

Yeah, I'm one of those weirdos who go around wearing food miniatures.
I also managed to play "Care Bears" with the Little Mister. He kept complaining that he didn't have a badge in his tummy, so I took care of that.

I also made some ice lollies for him, but for some reason he refused to try the strawberry ones (his favourite, as far as I know). Ah, children! But they won't go to waste.

He also discovered thumb wrestling.

And took a bite off the panettone. We had a LONG talk about that afterwards.

Today Rokko's parcel arrived. I became hysteric when I saw the Rose of Versailles stamps and the happy face she drew on my name. Thank you so much Rokko!!!
Then I opened the parcel and almost cried when I saw so many delicious chocolates.

Can't wait till Rokko comes to visit Buenos Aires. Gotta spoil her!
With her, Fatality and minimalism coming along, this February is going to be the best!
With plans like these, how can 2012 go wrong?
As usual, if you drink don't drive and take special care of your pets if there are fireworks nearby.
I wish you all the very best.

I guess I never really talked about the crafts I make and sell in my website: Ai Candies.
I've been into making fake sweets since 2008. Mostly they're accessories (necklaces, earrings, and such), but once in a whole i like to challenge myself with new "recipes" and materials.
I've recently made these little tarts. They're all memo-clips, so that's why they all have that funny stick on them.
I'm really proud of the cookie texture on the bases.

This one has been coated with sugar/coconut since the picture was taken.

Not quite what I had in mind, but I'm really proud of how those blueberries turned out.

Haven't mastered the tangerines yet, but I'll get there.

These will be part of a bigger "deco" piece. Probably a Nintendo DS case.

Experimenting with fake sugar/coconut.
I'm not sure what that material is supposed to look like. It's too thin for coconut, but the texture is not quite like sugar. Something in between, perhaps? Still cute, I think.
I'm also running a giveaway. All you have to do is visit Ai Candies and enter.
It's free and anyone can join (it's international
), so feel free to share the link with anyone you think could be interested. I'd be very happy if the winner was someone from SG.

20 days have passed since I shaved my head and as expected, it's growing pretty fast.
Apart from seeing how it would look on me, there's two things I wanted to find out by shaving my head.
The first one was how fast my hair grows.
I've always known my hair grew fast. But how fast?
So far, it's grown almost the monthly average in 2/3 of the time. I plan to observe that.
The second is my natural colour, whatever that may be.
I was born a brunette, but when you're 14 when you find your first white hair you have two choices
a) fight them with dye. b) join them, bleaching the hell out of your head.
(No, leaving it alone is not a choice)
For the last decade-and-a-half I chose b), alternating bleach and bright colours. The thing is I recently noticed that every time I bleached it, my hair would get a lighter shade of yellow. That would be normal, only I had never been able to get that kind of colour, no matter how much I tried.
The only explanation I I could think of is that my hair was growing less and less pigmented.
That's where I am right now, trying to find out exactly when I developed this "Reed Richards" white hair.
It may not show in the pictures, but a big deal of my sides and back have turned white. In some places it's almost all white, which is weird because it makes funny patterns.

Which of course you can't see with the awful light in my bedroom.
It may all sound a little dramatic, but I'm really enjoying my recent hairlessness.
Mostly because Summer's less than a month away and as usual, the heat will be terrible. Also, it's great not having to comb and barely having to wash it at all.
I also love it when people touch it. I could rub my head all day.
I've never been good with fashion so, could you please recomend something to wear on my head so I don't get freckles on my scalp? I've found two new ones since I shaved, 20 days ago.
Today seemed the perfect day to shave my head.
I ended up with a bag full of purple hair (my mother insisted to keep a lock).

It's funny how it feels like I have velcro all over my head.
Kiwi jokes, anyone?
