So Damn! I'm back after a bit of a hiatus and things seem to have evolved here just a little. Hope I can keep the journal up a for a little but second year of a professional program will probably keep me pretty fucking busy. I'll be looking around in the next little while to see who I might know.

So last week...
Action Packed - met the folks from Tangiers and Metric at Canadian Music Week show due to my marketing hook up through eye magazine.
Then on the weekend went to the U of O law school open house and was late for the fancy lunch. Ended up being seated with this little old man at a small table off to the side talked about the crappy food, skateboarding, and speeding tickets. Imagine my suprise when they announce the keynote speaker Supreme Court of Canada Justice Louise Lebel and the little old man I was just discussing the finer points of longboarding with gets up to say a speech. I felt a little bit stunned but when he sat back down we had some more conversation about international law and he dished the dirt on the other justices. Apparently they all have a serious speeding addiction - tons of tickets. But apparently L'Hereaux can make it from Quebec city to Ottawa in just over 2 hours, should have asked what the hell kinda car she drives.

Just spent 3 and a hlaf hours talkin to the ex fiance. First time we have talked in over two years and it was actually quite pleasant. A life long friendship may be salvaged after all.

On nights like tonight I can't help but think of Glen Gould. They sent his recordings into space on a satelite containing a timecapsule like record of human civilization. This has nothing to do with why I think of him though. I watched 32 short films about Glen Gould and a scene of the neurotic pianist self medicating with his own personal mixture of pharmaceuticals while glancing out a window onto a winterscape with blowing snow. It is this image that this evenings blowing snow and flurries fixed in my mind. Glen was apparently obsessed with the idea of the North. I often have similar thoughts of my own, the alluring calm of the isolation and seemingly cleansing nature of a scouring wind. Then however I realize that I'm freezing to death and thinking way too much about the weather and find myself happy with my current location.
So starting up the shift work again. Should be interesting, I might end up going mad in short order. The library is finally in good order just in time to roll out the new system. Semi random filing procedures so exciting 
The only things of interest lately -
1 - I have the use of a bike for a year
2 - I paid a women to beat the shit out of me for the first time this weekend and enjoyed it for the most part.
3 - I bailed on what was suppose to be my first Yoga class

Damn, it got cold fast. I'd been feeling a little spoiled with all the nice weather though. Been a little frustrated lately trying to negotiate awkward social conditions. Don't screw with the group dynamic, fuck that might cause change...
Things are so weird lately, people seem to be doing a lot of projecting. I have been asked several times lately about events in my life. When I share whats been happening I get cut off and people tell me what happened (or what they think happened) it gets a little tiresome. I have stoppped trying to correct people I explain once and then if they don't beleive so be it.

A break down...
The Ho-Ho spent with the fam, first time in years we didn't have a major drama of one kind or another which was nice.
The Seasonal Choda was spent hosting an old bartending friend thats doing Law Scool down in Australia now. Lots of memories and a few new ones created along with the realization that we aren't the alcoholics we used to be but we put in a good effort.
NYE dinner at friends that seemed like they went to the international house at one of the Universities and invited somebody from every country they could. That was followed by a cab ride to a party with a drunk cabby that was blaring James Brown at top volume, guy had a 26er of gin under his seat.
