It's getting late, I've had a few beers, I've ben playing along to some Creedence, and it's raining heavily while I'm inside, snug, dry and warm.

"These are some of my favorite things."

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
OK, there's the whole leak in the roof thing which the bastard landlord still hasn't fixed, but I refuse to have my mood spoilt

MORON OF THE DAY AWARD GOES TO...

...the woman I spoke to in the admin office at work who, on being informed that 2 small children were stuck in the lift, were panicking, and no-one could talk to them to calm them down as the intercom was broken, replied, "Is this urgent?" surreal

Christ on a fucking bike.

So now I'm in the new flat, most boxes have been unpacked (I really must get around to that, otherwise they'll probably still be there when I move out), & finally after much buggering around the internet has been connected. The neighbours seem nice & quiet, I've got used to the trains going past (it felt like that scene from the Blues Brothers at first, especially freight trains), & I've stopped bumping my head on the slopey bits (it's an attic flat).

Now, after a month, some of the shine is wearing off - the rain has revealed a leak in the living room & no word as yet from the landlord/agency as to when it's going to fixed. The strange thing is that I can't catch it in the act. I woke up on Monday to find a pool on the living room floor. Then when I got home yesterday after the afternoons heavy rain & was unsurprised to find another pool of water. So I put a bucket of water down, went to sleep & woke up to the sound of rain…not a drop in the bucket. Maybe I have a shy & incontinent ghost…

Still, the change in the weather has been welcomed by me at least...the "protect from sunlight" bit ^^up there^^ really isn't a joke. I'm a celtic-skinned redhead & am not made for blazing sunshine. It reminds me of Bill Hicks' bit about LA weather,

"Isn't great, every day, hot and sunny?"
What are you, a fucking lizard?"

've been watching North By Northwest this week actually, & I started Cape Fear (the original) last night. So far Mitchum/Peck beats Hitchcock/Grant easily. Maybe I've just got no taste, as I'm sure legions of cineastes would howl at me for this, but NbyNW left me pretty cold. So much of it seemed dated and very of it's time to me, with silly dialogue & characters and for a thriller…well, plenty of thrills but no real tension. Blah, maybe I just don't like Cary Grant.

Ended up cycling 20 miles to the coast & back yesterday. It was warm, sunny with a light breeze & I returned tired, happy & more than a little smug. However, as it was the first time this year that my Celtic skin has been exposed to the sun for any length of time, the result this morning has been a slightly lobster-like quality. I daren't go outside in case traffic stops at the sight of my forehead.

I have to go outside though - it's time for the dreaded flat-hunting frown

This is going to rule on my stereo for quite a while I think

On an unrelated note, some things are just pure evil. This is one of them.

+1 evil if they have bobbles dangling from them skull
