I have been busy as of late. I got a sinus cold. My roomate came back, making me quite happy. Best reunion ever.

I went out with friends last night. I went to a bar I normally don't go to called Capsule. I was surprised to see that the jukebox has Cocteau Twins, Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Broacast, and Soviet as some of the various music choices. I think I could partake in a few drinks to songs by said artists.

I am super bored. maybe i will go rent a movie. later

I have not posted any Somethingawful in awhile because it hasn't been as priceless as it usually is. This friday the topic was on the media's infatuation with victomizing us with Terrorist threats, and scare tactics. The following is were some great ones.

this one was personal.

so I have made a decision to put most of my effort into a graphic novel called
"Ether Real Love".

About a boy name Avril who locks his keys in his car and apartmen, walks to get a spares set of keys (from roomate), cuts through a cemetery, sees an old grave stone, becomes infatuated with it. Spends days learning about the mysterious girl named Alice who is carved on the headstone. Alice visit him in his dreams. She lucidly shows him all the past lives that they have shared. and the ending is a surprising journey of love and romance. I think the story is coming along properly.
the biggest challenges comes with panel design. and dialogue. Plus I am not confident how big I should make this piece of work. I am shooting for something like 200 pages. If I can get the beef of the work done. I can try and get publishing support for it when I travel (hoping) to the Sandiego Comic con some summer.

Oni press doesn't accept submissions via mail anymore, so I am going to have to pitch it to them in person. I don't think I am going to worry about color, I never was a big fan of color work. B&W looks good to me.

well I gotta get some sleep.

today we talk about old school anime. Big freaking rant too.

As of now im Intoxicated on smirnoff and longing for something unknown and nostalgic, I popped in my Robot Carnival soundtrack that I have had since the early 90's. While I can not be pompus and arrogant about being "old school" when it comes to anime (compared to Japanese fans), I can say in America it is very sad that Robot carnival isn't the staple of anime films to watch, let alone obtain. There is something genius about Jo Hisiashi's music score for this film. I mean this is the guy who scored Miyazaki's Laputa, Mononoke, and spirited away. And revisiting his work in Robot carnival, I get a feeling of how much I miss seeing Robot Carnival for the first time in Theaters. As much as I disgust digging up dead horses, I have lived such a life of great witness.

Whilst I could contest my now closet anime fandom, I won't contest seeing the following films in the indie theaters. Fist of the North Star, Laputa (original streamline dub), Akira, Porco Rosso, Mononoke, Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D, Demon city shinjuku, Ninja Scroll, Grave of the Fireflies, Lensman (so good), Golgo 13, Urotsukidoji, Macross Plus movie, Macross: do you remember love, Macross 2, Barefoot gen, Vampire Hunter D: Blood lust, Robot Carnival, ghost in the Shell, Blood, Patlabor movie, and others that I have since forgotten.

Since I was just a 3 foot tall fragle, I have been facinated by animation. It was a edjucation/career choice I descided to make, that unfortunatly never came to be. Being a art style that I fell in love with, and now since absorbed with many different influences of sequential art, I can remember the days of discouragment. I remember how in High School, how only a few people know what Japanimation was. (at this point I almost would rather call it that then Anime). I can remember that in 1996, my Art Institute of Pittsburg teachers discouraged my style of design because of my Japanese influence, and overpassed me for the "disney'esque" students. Fuck that bullshit. Where are all those traditional animators now? They all got fucking fired by Disney. I am sure Dreamworks is sure to follow since both comanies are abandoning traditional animation techniques for computer animation faster then a player and a ho. And what is American animation? Its a bunch of immature crap. Spongebob, Dexters lab, Doug, and the likes are boring attempts at potty humour. I very much disagree with the popular American myth that Animation is for children. That is why I am kinda glad Animation has grown up and moved up a bit demographic wise, thanks to mainstream anime. Maybe down the road there can be some animated move out there that comes from America that has a parental rating higher then PG. Only Time will tell.

im exhausted, and finnished bitching.

and im not spellchecking...eat me.

ill be happy when im sober and awake.

till then.

So I have word that my best friend is coming back from Florida. This serves me well as I have become lonely without her company, and the bills are somewhat overwhelming. Last two weeks I have worked somewhere around
60 hours. As always I am keeping best spirit since being silly and whinny about it iseems redundant. I do what I can by taking notice of what I appreciate..like seeing House of the Dead with Chris, Alex, and Don (wow that was pure shit)
Parring as many tatsumaki's that Ken and Gouki can attack at me. Watching that old animated cartoon that I grew up watching in the 80's called The littles (why not MCoG?), and enjoying Photoshop Friday which a couple are posted below.
Its been cold in Cleveland, today I walked around for 2 hours in 2 degree weather, and I would bitch if it wasn't for the fact that I know they got it worse north of Cleveland. Ok..im feeling dreamy so I am going to hit it.

11am...I have so passed the point of sleeping. I must stay up now. I know I am going to be hurting..but this is the only way I am going to make it to work, clean and awake and on time.

So bad news for England. I had hear awhile ago about a threat that a change in the gulf stream could bring about Alaska like weather to England. I can sorta relate since northern ohio has had tempatures of around -5 degrees to about 35 degrees fahrenheit. This was the topic of discussion on Coast to Coast AM last night.

Here is the article

I wonder what that would do to Iceland? Would Iceland get colder or is Reykjavik to be the new london?

In related thoughts; I wish Atlantis would just rise out of the ocean already so I can be the first one to step on its muddy shores and rename my new country Goaway.

Best time of the day is the morning. Why because sky is exactally how I feel. mostly gray, kinda pink, typically blue. My best artwork is always done in the morning. So at the moment I am charged in inspiration.

I did happen to fall across some sets by Rose. I must confess. She posted some of the best poses I have seen. The foreshortening.. eyes down. The profile of the face. Another good sorce for me. For SG I am currently working on a Llona desktop for SGarmy. My first contribution.

More somethingawful comedy goldmine. Apparently the theme was Edjukshanal posters. I didn't post the best pictures, just some teasers. Some are teary funny, some are mean. I warned ya.

So the president is announcing plans to put a base on the Moon and a visit to the planet Mars. This whole announcement has me conflicted because I feel we could really use that money for current help with today’s economy, but then again I keep hearing rumors that this will bring in new industry based on (and this is speculation) our government releasing into the corporate world new technology (black ops) they have been sitting on for years. Could this be antigravity mechanics? On the other hand this just feels like a new form of propaganda that President Bush is using in his re-election. frown

In personal news, my roomate/bestfriend's father is not in best health, and she had to go back to Florida for an unknown amount of time. I am not sure when she will be back, It is lonely here without her companionship, and I am worried about bills and the end of the month. I am confident I can come up with something. I will use this quiet time to get some artwork done. Suicide girls website has been really inspirational to me. The site alone has been worth it just for the fashion. Not to mention some uncanny resemblances to enigmatic females in my illustrations.
