Quick little update of life lately.

Living in Raleigh is great. Its such a nice change, seeing so many new places and faces and being able to experience so much more than is possible with the small town life.

New job is cool. Working at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Makers is not nearly as "mellow" as the name would lead you to believe, but thats what going corporate does to a place.

Going back to school in the spring. I've always loved cooking especially for other people so culinary school here I come.

I'm attempting to brew my own beer, its quite the learning experience and gives me something else to do with my spare time besides playing video games.

On the subject of video games, this has been quite the past 2 months. It started with Battlefield 3, then Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim and finally Assassins Creed Revelations. This is why I'm looking at finding new hobbies. So many great games, but so much time has gone into these games. When I really think about it, it makes me sad.

Working on getting my passport. I'm going to Istanbul in July for the international folk festival. The gf will be dancing and I'll be participating in a boat race. Free room and board so all I have to get is a plane ticket and fun money. Thats on the other side of the freakin planet suckers. AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Getting ready to play my final show with my band. Got to leave in about 30 min to pick up some drinks and start setting up. This will also be my farewell funeral since all my friends keep saying that I'm dead to them since i'm moving to Raleigh in a week. They don't understand that its only 4 hrs away, and in a city so they now have a place to stay if they ever make it out that way. O well, I'm gonna miss this town, I'm going to miss the people, and I'm going to miss playing music with these guys. Its been a blast, but I'm waaaaay overdue for some change. After 5 years of working for the school system, i felt burned out and put in my letter of resignation. Now I have money to last a month and a half, so I have that much time to find a new job or win the lottery. I was going to try to open up a bar/restaurant, but you need money for that. Banks and other finance companies won't lend money to people with no collateral. Doesn't matter if I've always made my payments and have decent credit. The food industry is just too high risk. So... I have to find a cosigner, someone with money that wouldn't mind financing my business, or just find another dead end job. No need to worry till September rolls around

Its funny how when I'm single I get all lonely and want a lady to hang out with. When I'm dating someone I get the desire to have time to myself and be left alone to do my own thing. Its not like i want to fuck someone else, I just want to do my thing and live my life without feeling guilty when I don't include a significant other in my plans. I need to find that balance.

Well fuck my asshole, its been a while since I've blogged. Not a whole lot of new things going on lately, but since I haven't blogged in forever, it might seem like a lot. Been playing an insane amount of video games. I replayed and beat Dragon Age Origins 2 times since my last save data was lost due to the yellow light of death, played and beat Dragon Age 2 which was a pretty awesome game, played and beat Demon's Souls which was one of the hardest games I've ever played.

Currently I'm taking a break from the gaming life so i can get some other stuff done. Been car shopping, been car shopping because i need to replace my piece of shit that i'm driving right now that guzzles gas. I've got my garden started. Its just a tiny thing (thats what she said) but it should provide enough for a few really great meals, and hopefully all my basil will grow properly which means PESTO... YUM!!!!

Started a new band with a couple friends. We've only played one serious show as well as a last min house party show. I like playing with these guys because we all switch up instruments throughout the set, so I get to play drums, bass, guitar and sing at some point. We all came up with a bunch of possible names for the band, wrote them down and drew from a hat since we couldn't settle on something. The name we drew... The Power. "I've always wanted to date a girl named The Power"

Got to watch the Pens stomp the Canes for my birthday.

That melted and then we had some more snow

Since we had no snow shovel, the roomie and I embarked on one of our snow time adventures to the store. We left at around 2pm

We walked a good 5 miles to the store and scored the last snow shovel they had and some food which we ate like hobos outside.

Then started the long trek back...



Got my car paid off, which is why i'm looking for a new one now, but without car payments i was able to buy a new toy


Found the ultimate coffee table that i MUST buy at some point


and i saw an awesome sunrise... too bad i was driving through the shitty part of town


and finally... i stayed in a super shaddy hotel


Thats about all i can think of.

So i went to DragonCon in ATL, GA. That was the best trip to ATL that i've ever had. Holy shit, and it was the best DragonCon too. Granted its been a few years since i've been, but it was a blast. My buddy Josh, that i grew up with, was there, and a bunch of old faces from high school. It was cool seeing the whole gang again. I also got to meet some cool new people. I only had the camera on my phone, so most of the pics are shit quality, but you'll get the gist of it.

Been jamming out with a couple friends lately. Its a nice change of pace. Going from drumming for a punk band to playing guitar for a good ol' rock band is a nice change. Its nice not to be tied down by a genre of music, we play anything, and every now and then just keep jammin like a bunch of fuckin hippies... only problem is i've been drug free for almost 4 years now, and it feels weird to be jamming out like that without being high. Yea, i know i'm stereotyping, but back when i was on some shit, i had no second thought of rocking out like a mad man, though it sounded pretty shitty back then. Just finished writing a cool song, its simple and fun. It feels good to be doing this again, and two of my good friends. We all help each other express ourselves, and its not anything serious, just having fun. Might unleash a few of our originals at the open mic night at my friends coffee shop next thursday. Hopefully i'll get some video footage of it when we do.

Hope all is well in SG world. I'm so very horrible with online communities, or people in general now that i think about it.

I finally have almost all of my instruments at home again. Since my band isn't playing much these days i've been slack about practicing, but i finally got up early this morning, cleaned up the basement and got everything set up. Now i can play again, and there's plenty of room and instruments to share if people want to come jam. I'm feeling pretty happy right now.

I've been thinking a lot about what i'm gonna do and where i'm gonna go after i quit my jobs. The conclusion i've come to... everything and everywhere. Sure i'll have to keep working a bit, but i plan on seeing and doing as much as possible while i'm still young enough to do so.

Its gonna happen. Time to start saving, get a passport, and figure out where my first destinations will be. I need suggestions.
