I don't mean to be all intrusive... but why work it out if you fear you've checked out and he's unsure of his "worthiness"?

I'm genuinely inquisitive.

I haven't figured out if I checked out because I'm afraid he's just going "do it again", or if because there's some underlying reason. I'm trying to identify the reasons and make sure I'm making choices thinking them through completely. It's the kind of relationship that you really don't get to a round 2 on.
