More pix from my road trip: Route 66 part one......

cool.... wonderful.... yippee.... hurray!

cool.... wonderful.... yippee.... hurray!
huh...... ?
I learned so many new things this week. (maybe?)
I learned that life is a folly and I am merely a foolish pawn.
I was reminded that instincts should be rewarded and not ignored.
I got to see how patience and humility is not always the best formula for success.
On the flip side to that: I also got to see how patience and humility has brought me wonderful and meaningful friendships that will last a lifetime.
I learned that I'm not as strong as I thought I was.... I bruise easy, my ego is the most vulnerable.
I learned that life is a strange almost metaphysical dichotomy; there is this figurative "tug of war" that is always keeping things in balance.
I got to see first hand that if you ever think that you've got it all figured out..... well that's when a big old bird will swoop down and plop a big runny shit right on top of your head.
In summary: Life is crazy.... well, my life is crazy. I feel love, hate, pain, pleasure, envy, sadness, joy and ecstasy on a daily basis.... sometimes hourly. Shit happens and I think "wow, that was amazing! What are the odds of that happening?" Life has shown me some outrageous shit and given me the courage to rage on with passion!
Life will throw you the wildest curve ball. You will think that things couldn't be crazier. But that's when you stop and take a note of what is happening. Because those are the moments that make you and define you. As far as I'm concerned; that's what life is all about! Every day you are faced with decisions. Sometimes you ponder and reflect. Sometimes you think and act. One day you might succeed, another day you may fail. How you react.... that's your decision.
Cheers and salute to each and every one of you! I sincerely and genuinely hope that you all enjoy life as much as I do!

Pix from a scary abandoned house in eastern Colorado:

I appreciate the comments. I used to take photography very seriously. I studied for several years at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. I worked in some prestigious photo studios. It was a fun time. I worked hard and I did well in school. I really enjoyed my life and friends in New York but I wasn't happy working as a photographer. I didn't feel like it was the right career path for me. I left school, sold all my cameras and bought turntables. That was 15 years ago. I haven't had much interest in photography since that time in my life. I've been busy working on my career in music. This vacation / road trip was really good for me because I had time to stop and take a lot of snap shots. It was a lot of fun! It's nice to find an interest in something that once meant so much to me.

I'm back home. Over 4,500 (mapquest says it was 4,000) miles in eight days.
Picked up Monroe in Oklahoma City.

Drove to Santa Fe and stayed with a old friend. He and his partner have two great danes, one is a puppy and one is four years old. They loved Monroe (everyone loves Monroe). I'm pretty sure that Edith and Monroe had the hots for each other which is funny because Monroe only comes up to her ankles.

After Santa Fe I made a mad dash through the SW on parts of old Route 66. Stopped a lot to take pictures. Lots of cool rotten stuff on the road side. I'll post more over the next week. Here's a few.

Just really quick... I'm in Oklahoma City. I spent the day at White Water Adventure Park with two people I met for the first time this morning. Rode water slides all day.... swam in a wave tank. Ate BBQ and drank a beer. Now I'm sitting here watching TV with the newest member of my family..... Monroe. He's the cutest dog! Just met him today and he's already my best friend.
Not a bad day.
Pictures soon.

It's 12:30pm in PDX.... It took me an extra two days to get ready so I'll be leaving in about 15 minutes. Gonna' try to make Twin Falls, Idaho by nightfall.
I had to wait till today to leave so I cleaned and organized for the last three days straight. I get sort of nuerotic before I go away for more than a couple days at a time. I clean everything, I try to make sure that everything is where it needs to be when I get back and I want to make sure it would be easy to deal with my shit if anything were to happen while I'm gone.
So... I leave you with a photo diary of my obsessive compulsive behavior.
I washed and folded the whole pile of laundry on the left. There was more.

Cleaned and sanitized the bathroom.

Cleaned and organized the closet.
