as far as commuting goes for your job, park slope is really convenient... real easy subway access to the financial dist (15-20 mins)... but parking is a real pain in the ass - but actually not as bad as some neighborhoods in sf - i'm sure you've been given the stereotypical summaries of all the brooklyn neighborhoods - park slope is full of tree-lined streets, brownstones (read: expensive apartments), strollers and lesbians - williamsburg is full of, well, hipsters, musicians, artists, and supermodels - i spend a lot of time in williamsburg as well because my band has a studio and rehearsal space there - its a fun place - probably way over-hyped - but still drawing in masses of young people - i'm glad a decided to live in the slope - i fell in love with the brownstones - i kept my car for the first couple months while i settled in, then ended up selling it - i don't really miss it - which is weird, because i was so totally dependent on my car in california. other good areas in brooklyn include: cobble hill, carroll gardens, boerum hill and of course the exclusive brooklyn heights.
