I think Moidyn and I are both going to be fine; it's been more than 48 hours and there are no signs of adverse effects. I complained to my apartment managers, and they assured me that the chemicals Orkin used were only sprayed along the baseboards of my kitchen and bathroom, and that they should have become inert after only 20-30 minutes. Apparently, they did send out a notice, but it was an after thought on a notice that was mostly about pool rules, which I ignored since I have no interest in the pool, plus digging it up, it gave no specific date for the pest inspection.
In other news, this gift account a still-unknown benefactor generously gave me will expire soon. I shouldn't be gone long, perhaps a month at the most, I just started working again, and I need to fill out one of the credit card applications I get, so that I have a method of online-payment. No wonder there's a credit crisis in this country; I defaulted on my last card when I was out of work last autumn, and despite a credit rating that is likely in the shitter, I still receive pre-approval offers.
I'm so fucking angry right now I could put my fist through a wall! I just got home at about 12:30 AM to find that my apartment complex had Orkin come in to do 'pest control' on my apartment. They gave absolutely NO NOTICE that they were going to do this, otherwise I would have arranged to be home so I could see what the fuck they were spraying and where they were spraying it!
As it is now, I feel like I have to wash every fucking dish I own and scrub every surface in my apartment to make sure it is contaminated with pesticides! And what about my fucking cat? They made a big deal about accusing me of not paying the proper pet fees (when I thought I had been all along), but I'm sure they didn't think twice about whether or not she could A). be contaminated either directly or indirectly by eating a dead bug, or B). their dumb asses possibly letting her get out when they entered my apartment.

And, as if a new puppy were not enough, we also had this poor dog stagger up into our driveway and collapse from heat exhaustion. She probably would have died on the spot, if my mom hadn't happen to have been standing at the window when she wandered up:
We found her owners. This isn't the first time the dog's been sighted in my parent's neighborhood. The owners are pretty irresponsible. But I think we've talked them into giving her up, and my sister has some neighbors that mentioned they were interested in getting a dog, and if they take her, my sister will be able to keep an eye on her too.
And...
I saw the cream-colored cat that I've mentioned before that hangs around my apartment complex as I was leaving to go down to my folks today.
She looks to be fairly emaciated. I talked to my parents, and I need to talk to my sister to find out what would be a good day for her for me to catch this cat, and bring her in. (I think it's a her). I can't just grab her now, because if she has feline leukemia or some other communicable disease, I don't have anywhere I can keep her separated from Moidyn until I can take her into the vet.
If the cat does have owners, which I don't think she does, because as I said, she's pretty thin, and so probably isn't eating regularly, they aren't very good ones, and don't deserve her.
A little boxer boy to help fill the hole left when Buddy died. This one's name is Eddie, for Edward Jones, the investment company, since it's the money Eddie Jones has been providing my parents with that provided for the puppy.
He's a purebred, from a respectable breeder. Normally, I'm really against supporting the breeding industry, but my folks were just so heart-broken when Buddy died, that they wanted a dog that had a reasonable chance of a long, healthy life. Unfortunately, because of mosquitoes in the South, pretty much any rescue dog is going to be infected with heartworms, which is not only a very expensive to treat, but the cure is very arduous, and an infection can leave lasting damage (which is what contributed greatly to Buddy's early death). At any rate, of the probably 50 or so various cats, dogs, rabbits, ground hogs, raccoons, turtles that my family has cared for over the years, all of which were rescues, my folks figure they owe themselves a 'planned pregnancy'.
I'll post pictures as soon as I have some, probably this weekend. This puppy seriously takes adorable to an entirely new level
Are things really that bad? Can't you just put anybody who's bothering you on ignore and just make them a non-entity?
I miss my friends, and this place is getting crappy and boring without you.
