It has been far too long since the last CGI dinosaur documentary series came out. I went through Netflix today and the most recent thing they had was from 2006.

I had my steroid injection yesterday and it went pretty well. They put me under for about a half hour with the same stuff that killed Michael Jackson so I didn't feel anything. After it was done, my back felt the best it had in years. Then i realized that was the local anesthetic they applied. Once it wore off, I felt like I just had a needle in my spine, which I did, but is also the reason I went in. But soreness and pain is to be expected for a few days while the medicine gets absorbed into the area. So in a few days I should be back to normal. I'm already feeling a little boost in energy so that should pay off well in the gym.

Maybe now I can go a full 20 hours a week and puke until my nose bleeds and then I'll pull bitches left and right!

MRI results are in! I have a bulging disc at the L5/S1 part of my spine, which is where the spine first comes off of the pelvis. It's not major, and there's no noticeable nerve damage but it still hurts like a motherfucker so I'm getting steroid injections next Tuesday. That's exactly what the world needs, Rory on steroids. Keep an eye on the news for a Hulk like rampage in the streets of north Dallas in the coming weeks.

I'm broken. Physically, that is. Not in the same sense as the song. I've been dealing with ongoing pain for the past few years and I'm finally in a position to get it taken care of. Since about 2004, I've had sharp stabbing pain in my spine and had an MRI done on Monday to try to find out the cause. I got a copy of my scans and I'll be damned if I know what they're looking for. All I could see was how fat I still am. I was feeling really good about my weight loss until i saw an MRI of my lower back and saw all this glorious, powerful muscle surrounded by a giant white mass of fat. I'm playing around with photoshop to try to make an animated gif of my images. I just think it's really neat to see stuff like that.

As for my head, well that's the bigger problem. These get triggered by the changing of the seasons in the spring and fall. It's not weather patterns, it's related to either sunlight, or a shift in the earth's magnetic field. If I were a bird I would be wanting to migrate my ass off. Today, I woke up with a headache for the first time since early October. It wasn't as severe as it has been, it's just a harbinger of things to come. Fortunately, I'm seeing a pain management specialist and he's impressed me so far. He doesn't want to just treat the symptoms like my PCP, or my neurologist. He suggested that when they start to occur frequently again that we not only do imaging on my brain but also on my neck to find the specific nerve responsible for sending these pain signals. That's something that has never been recommended before. I've made it clear to him that I'm open to anything at this point short of straight up heroin or any sort of quackery like homeopathy. He's shown to be the kind of person to "think outside the box" (fuck me, i hate that phrase) and that's refreshing.

What rolls down stairs, alone or in pairs and bores your neighbors dog? BLOG BLOG BLOG!

I had an appointment today with a pain management specialist to talk about my cluster headaches and my back pain. For my headaches we're in a holding pattern for now. He wants to try neck injections of a painkiller and heat therapy to follow up with them but we need to determine the cause of the pain. In order to do that i need to have imaging done during an attack. So once my headaches come back to their regular intensity and frequency, I'll go in for another MRI/CT combo and we'll go from there. As for my back, i've had a pinched nerve or a herniated disc in my lower spine for about seven years now. it's not as intense as my headaches, but it still sucks ass. Im going to have an MRI done on my lower back next week and after we get the results back we'll go over treatment for that. Most likely steroid or cortisone injections.

So I'll keep you all updated on that once I hear back.

I've had this song stuck in my head all week and I don't care.

Watching Hell on Wheels on Netflix. I"m not really a fan of westerns, but this is pretty good.

disregard that. My headaches are coming back and they make me a bit...irrational.

I just read the first three issues of the new run of Captain America written by Rick Remender. This page from issue 2 spoke to me on an incredibly deep level.

I get cluster headaches, which are also lovingly called "suicide headaches" because they just don't end until you die or kill yourself. My last bout with them, I had a headache that for 10 weeks felt like Thor was pounding on my skull every five minutes. I admit there were times that eating a bullet sounded like a really good idea. There is no cure, and essentially no treatment because they don't respond to most medications. I often felt like Cap in this page. Where do i draw the line? How much is too much? But no matter how bad it hurt, I just persevered and told myself that ending it all wasn't the right answer.

I've been a fan Remender for years, but never before have I read anything that so accurately conveys the level of despair, hopelessness and ultimately determination that I've had to endure.

I think I've got an idea for a new tattoo.
