I entered 4 photos in the art contest at the North Florida Fair and 3 of them came home with ribbons on them. Not too shabby smile

I got 1st place in the Professional Color Portrait division with this shot of Sarah in front of the Leon Pub.

No matter where I stood, there was a glare from the ceiling, so I'll attach a spoiler of the real image below:

I also managed to take 1st place in the Professional Black & White Portrait division with this shot of Madi that I took in March. Yay Madi!!!

Lastly, I entered a shot in the Professional Black & White Still Life division, and got myself a shiny red 2nd place ribbon for that.

This was the first time I've ever entered a photography contest, so it was quite pleasing to win ribbons in all three divisions that I entered.

I've always perferred shooting my black & white shots with film, but I've decided to try forcing myself to shoot my digital shots with the type of lighting that I want for b&w, and then convert the images.

Success has been rather mixed, but I have to say that I really adore these two shots. In this first one, she looks like such a badass.

Sarah asked if she could stop for a cigarette, and I decided to work her smoke into the shot. Thanks for being a smoker!

Yay for rejected pics!!! I shot some stuff for a friend a few weeks ago and she took the pics that she liked and left me with the rest. I dusted off my favorites from the cutting room floor and found some nice stuff. This was the first time that I used my new brolly boxes, and they did a nice job of lighting things up.

Yay for brollys!!

People are always throwing stuff at me!!

This was a huge mansion, and we did some shooting on the stairwell

Being Florida, it rains every day, so before the rain moved in we ran outside for a few shots at the pool

The air show came to Tallahassee and I was lucky enough to get an invite to do some vintage shots with a few local models. It isn't often that one has the opportunity to shoot with WWI and WWII era warplanes as a background, so I jumped at the chance.

When I was a kid I always loved the P-51 Mustang, so it was a treat to see one in real life.

You can see a passenger in the back seat. The cost to take a 20 minute ride in the plane was $950. Yup, that's right. $950. Heck, why not make it an even $1,000? I guess that $50 difference makes it sound cheaper.

Also from the WWII era we had a bomber, that was rather monsterous. In this black & white shot, Jessi was standing underneath it:

And up front the plane had a wee bit of fire power:

While I was shooting with Jessi, the hairdresser was giving Victory Curles to Christen and Lauren. I've never even heard of a victory curl. Well, I learned what they are when I saw the girls!

I shot with both of them in front of some WWI era bi-planes. The first one had just collected $950 and was about to take off with another passenger. Damn, we've got some folks in Tallahassee with money to burn!

Christen let down her hair and as we walked past a military helicopter, one of the pilots brought us a flight suit and Christen suited up.
