so my English isn't perfect.
Thanks for telling me so.
I knew it.

I was trying to be strong and positive, but "Your English isn't perfect" broke my mind in pieces.
That means, there's no chance for me to get a job.
He thinks that I won't get a job cos he thinks my english isn't perfect.

Now I hate myself again, because I'm silly Japanese, and can't speak, talk, or understand English. I'd better quit thinking flying to NL, and stay here in Japan for work.

[EDIT]
I can't stop taking some antipsychotic and sedative tablets, and these almost ran out, even I got them last week...... frown

The person who said that is from Norway. I'm sure his English isn't perfect. But speaking as a teacher who has spent the last few years working with Japanese students who come to school in America, your written English is very very very good, and you should have no trouble getting a job. smile

Don't hate yourself. I think your English is fine, and, really, I'm the only one whose opinion matters in my world.tongue

And trust me, here, not having English as your first language does NOT disqualify you from a job.

Your English isn't perfect, but it is very good, and better than most Americans!

Don't beat yourself up over that comment, it wasn't meant to be mean. It's probably just a cultural difference creating a misunderstanding.

For what job are you applying that "perfect English" is that important? It's not that important here. I work in the medical field and it's sometimes scary how poorly some nurses and doctors are at spelling, but in general, if people can understand you, it's great. I can certainly understand your writing, and as g_whiz said, it's better than most. And I read the "English isn't perfect" comment and I'm convinced it wasn't meant as an insult.

Actually, I would think that Japanese, with its complexity (and I've heard about that both from Japanese and Americans learning Japanese), being your first language, would be a GOOD thing for that job. Based on your handling of written English here, I'd guess your verbal skills are perfect for the job. Don't be intimidated. If it were my decision I'd hire you in a second.

By the way, Amsterdam is awesome.smile I'm curious; do you speak Dutch as well?

Best of luck.

So many people from spain-portugal-swede etc have jobs here and their english isn't perfect. It's about your capabilities. Don't let someones' stupid comment destroy your confidence. Think about what I told you before, love and trust yourself. What anybody says or does is not important- you know you're the best person you can be. HAve faith.
