I know this is an American site but I wish they could make it easier to search for UK based events and people. Local appears to just be the whole of the UK.
It would be great if I could find out about gigs, events and stuff that were happening where I live rather than on the other side of the country. I think apart from one other person I know I must be the only person from Chichester on SG. There are probably others but I just can't find them, and SG is one of those sites you don't really advertise to your friends that you are a member of (well i don't anyway). SG to me is a bit like a private club. People don't really understand it unless they are already members. I see it more as a social networking site, rather than a porn site.
But then again as my girlfriend always says, SG isn't really a social networking site its a site for looking at boobies. so what do i know tongue

I guess my main questions really are:
Have you ever gone to a local gig/event solely based on the information supplied by SG?
How many of you out there have real life friends on SG?
How did you know they were members?
Have you made real life friends from the site?
Do you talk openly about SG to people who aren't already members?

Well I didn't pass the D grade promotion exam. My score was 212/300 and the pass mark was 245/300. I am not too fussed really. I've been a E1 now for almost 7 years so another year wont kill me. I know I could always leave my job and get one where you don't have to take an exam to get promoted. Even if you pass the sift exam it doesn't me you will get promoted it just means that you have passed stage one of a four stage process. The next stage is a workshop. If you pass the workshop you have an Interiew. If you pass the interview you can then apply for a D grade Job. That's right apply! It doesn't mean you will be successful in the interview for the job you are actually going for. So yeah... I'm not that fussed. I don't even know what D grade position I would apply for in the first place. Basically I like my job. I just want more money.

in other news I joined Urban Dead yesterday. Now I feel like watching lots of Zombie films this weekend...
Not for really for entertainment but more for educational purposes for the coming zombie apocalypse. blackeyed puke skull

Well London was a success. There was a power cut in the street where my course was being held on Tuesday, It hadn't come back up when I went in on Wednesday, so the rest of the course had to be canceled. However because the hotel had already been paid for that night I could stay in London till Thursday morning. So not only did I end up coming home early. But it gave me the opportunity to go and visit the house from Spaced. I spoke to the woman who lived there and she was very nice. She mentioned all the little things that they did while filming. They cut the tree in the front garden down. Used her front room as a squat. Made fake door bells. Covered up the window behind the front door. broke her gate. as well as being descended upon by 78 actors and crew, filming day and night. I felt really sorry for her as it sounded like hell, not only that but now she gets 100's of people turn up every day to visit the famous house. She thanked me for asking for permission to take photos of the place as many people stand around outside don't even bother.
I made a little video of the viist...

After the visit to 'Meteor Street' I met Tara (a livejournal friend) at Mile End tube station before heading to a pub for drinks. She was an absolute life saver. If it wasn't for her i would have died a death of boredom locked away in the hotel room all Tuesday. Such a great person. Hopefully our paths will cross again in the future.

As the power didn't return on the Wednesday I spent most of the day with Pollen's friend Gemma. We visit a great place called The Porter House and drank lots of strange beer, We then met up with my friend Miffy at another pub called Chandos and had something to eat. After food we then said goodbye to Gemma, then Miffy and I went on the London Eye...

oooooh!

not only that but we saw the mystery machine, but we couldn't find Scooby Doo, or any of the rest of the gang. It was just there on it's own...

that was a mystery?!

Miffy and I then met up with Tom and Vanessa and had a few drinks, then it was back to the hotel for my last night in London. So in the end I was only in London for 3 whole days, but they were a great 3 days. smile
