I'm back in classes now. They seem pretty good, and I'm really looking forward to them, even if a few of them look to be a bit intensive.
My friend just got back yesterday. She was in Israel for 5 weeks on an archaeological dig, and then she went to Amsterdam for two weeks. It was really good to see her and hear about all the cool things she's done and the places she's gone. She even got to see Massada. I'm so jealous.
There is a housing shortage here in Saskatoon. Lots of students are having a hard time finding a place to live. And yet my cousin STILL cannot find a roommate. She's been looking all summer, too.

Well, I'm all moved in. I'm in the same hall I was in last year, which kinda sucks, but my room is a little bigger this year. Not by much, It's about a foot wider, but it feels a lot better.
I would post pictures, but there is no battery in my camera, and I have no idea where it's gone off to. I actually freaked out a little when I was packing because I couldn't find the charger. Turns out my older brother had. But I never took the 2 seconds to check to see if the battery was actually in there. I'll see if it turns up at home, but if it doesn't I may just have to buy a new one.
Such is the exciting life I lead.

well, I'm not sick. Test showed no hep and no mono. My doc said it was likely up because I had the flu last week.
So wooooooo for good health!
So wooooooo for good health!
So, APPARENTLY, there's something wrong with me.
I went for a checkup before I go back to school, which included some blood tests. My liver count came back elevated, so I had to go back and get some more tests done. Particularly for mono and hepatitis. My money's on mono, because I had it when I was in Grade 7. That was about 7 years ago now, but it still seems more likely than hep.
My doctor didn't seem too concerned, so I'm not either. If he went "OMG we need to get you to a hospital!!!!1!!!" I'd be a little more concerned.
If any of you have an X360 or a gaming PC, I strongly recommend Bioshock. I finished it last night, and it is one of the finest games I have ever played. Stop reading and go buy it.

Since I haven't updated in a while, now might be a good time to write some more fantasy! I know you all love it
Varibs, the Council of Ancients, and the Nine Cantons
The main antagonists in this story is the Varib Empire. The Varibs are not necessarily evil, just ruthlessly expansionist and amoral. I guess that could be classified as evil, but I find gray morality to be much more engaging than simple good/evil, black/white morality.
The empire is ruled by the Council of Ancients, a council of nine members. These Councilors were human, at one point, but on their appointment to the council they underwent a transformation. They still look more or less human, they are just very tall, incredibly strong, and extremely long lived. They usually live for about a millennium. When a Councilor is close to death he will name a successor, and he will undergo the transformation after the old councilors death. If a Councilor is killed unexpectedly, in battle for for example, then the council will choose a successor.
The empire is divided into nine cantons, each one ruled by a Councilor. The capital, Salliam, is its own canton, and the Councilor there is usually considered to be the impartial member of the council. Braus, the first councilor we meet in the story, is a relatively young councilor, only about two hundred years old. He is the Councilor for Hathima, a small canton in the north-west of the the empire, on the opposite side of the Silverback Mountains from the Soofar province of Nanshiir. This is the region that most of the raiders plaugeing the coast come from.
Since I've covered all the lands west of the mountains, the only thing left is the Nanshiir Empire. I'm almost reluctant to write about it. I'm not sure where to even begin, there's so much swirling around up here.
As a bit of commentary, My original idea was for the Councilors to be medusas, but I was never totally happy with that. Mostly because I cribbed it from the Eberron campaign setting in D&D. I wanted to coem up with something original, and so the Councilors came to be. I even wrote the first few chapters with Braus as a medusa. I may even still tweak the Councilors. They seem just a little to generic. I want something a little more evocative.

Well, yesterday was my last day of work. Woo! And I keep the dubious tradition of having to leave early on my last day. Last year I had to leave around 3 because I had to go to my brothers wedding rehearsal. This year I left around 330 because I was sick. I think I've got the flu.
But now I get to chill out for two weeks, then go back to school.

Two Days. Just two days of work left. And then two weeks before I get to go back to school.
In other news, Bioshock comes out on tuesday! That should make the two weeks more bearable.

Just an update on my weekend.
We had a party for my parents 25th anniversary on saturday. Their anniversary is actually in November, but this is more fun. nothing major, just family. We got them tickets to the Daytona 500 next year. My Dad's a big NASCAR fan, and my mom likes it, too.
One of my friends, Meagan, came down to visit me form Saskatoon. She came on Saturday and left on Sunday. I wish she could have stayed longer, but it was still nice to see her. We had a fun time, and she's very sociable, so she wasn't weirded out by meeting so much of my family.
Three weeks until I get to go back. NOT SOON ENOUGH!
