Okay I'm back!

I had to let my account expire. It was grey for about two weeks. Worst two weeks of my life!

But I'm back now and all is right in the universe.

I'm hard at work on my archaeological dig. We started on the 12th, and started digging on the 14th. I've been going a little slower than others because my square is full of roots, and has two big rocks, one of which we've already gotten rid of. It'll be worth it when we reach the bottom tho, because there's a hearth (fire pit), which are archaeological gold mines.

The site is called the Dog Child site. Don't ask me why. It's a multicomponent campsite on a terrace next to a creek. The youngest layer, the one closest to the surface, is a Plains Side Notched occupation. The name refers to the style of arrowhead used. We think it is probably proto-historic, that is an occupation that has European trade goods, but has had very little direct contact with Europeans.

Below that is a Prairie Sid Notched component, about 1000 years old. Then there are a McKean complex level and an Oxbow level, which are around 3500 yo. At the bottom is a Mummy Cave occupation, and between that and the Oxbow level is a level that may be a transitional level. That is what we're digging at the site to examine.

The upper levels are a little sparse in this area of the site. The main campsite was a little to the north, but the lower levels are very rich.

Well, I'm done school. I've moved into my new apartment, I've got a car, bank account, everything. I still need to find a part-time job, but other than that, I'm golden.

I found out last night that my cousin got into physiotherapy here in Saskatoon, so she will be here in the fall and I can keep living in the apartment. Good times.

Other than that, not much to report. I've been playing The World Ends With You on the DS. If you have a DS, I cannot recommend this game enough. Controlling it can be a little intimidating at first, but it is well worth it.

I promised a blog update and here it is!

My semester is winding down. I'm done all of me projects and papers, and all that's left is finals.

This summer is going to be big for me, because it is one of many firsts. This is the first summer where I will not be moving back to Lloydminster. I'm going to be staying here in Saskatoon. I'll be going to field school for the first two months, and just working for the last two. I'll be living at my cousin's apartment, because she IS going home for the summer. My friend Jenny is living with me, and I am excited beyond words about that. She's one of my favourite people in the world, and I get to hang out with her all summer! I'll also be getting my first car. Not sure what yet, hopefully something good on gas (125.9/litre now. Bastards.). I might also have to get a bank account up here. I think I might have to start referring to home as "my parents place."

So, to recap: Apartment, Field school, job, car, bank account, friend. So excited.

Enough of me talking. Comments!

Blogging clearly doesn't work for me. Interesting stuff just doesn't seem to happen to me, and I don't feel like whining.

I'll continue to update, about whenever I get something to say.

Happy New Year everyone!

My resolution is to write here more often. Let's see how long before that breaks.

I'm done finals and I'm back home for the Christmas break. All my finals went fairly well and I feel good about my marks this semester.

Christmas with my family usually consists of opening presents on Christmas morning, then driving up to my aunt's in Edmonton. Christmas for me has always been about the big family gathering. Getting together with as many members of your family as possible. For some reason small Christmases seem weird to me.

What are you all doing for Christmas/Kwanza/whatever else you celebrate?

Okay, might as well right something.

Finally got my term paper finished this weekend. It was 13 1/2 pages in the end, and it was recommended to be 15 to 18, but my papers always come up short. It's just how I write, I'm very efficient.

Finals have started now. I have a Arch. theory exam on Friday and an Osteology exam on Saturday. Both are going to be hefty, but once I'm done it's pretty smooth sailing.

I really should update this more often, I just feel like I have enough to say.

I'm going to warn you all right now, the next few weeks are going to be busy, so I'm not going to be doing any updates until december. Because I've been so prolific lately, I wouldn't want you all to miss me!

So you'll hear from me sometime around the beginning of December.
