The only thing that keeps this blog post from falling into the category of shameless self-promotion is that I do indeed feel some shame for plugging my wares so blatantly. But here goes:

For anyone around Southern California, Paris je t'aime, a movie I Executive Produced a few years ago, will be playing at the New Beverly Cinema on the 24th and 25th of this month. The movie is a collection of vignettes offering different takes on the idea of love in Paris, and includes short films directed by (among others) the Coen Brothers, Wes Craven, Gus Van Sant, Alfonso Cuaron and Alexander Payne, and features Willem Dafoe, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Elijah Wood, Gena Rowlands, Natalie Portman and Bob Hoskins. It's programmed as a double feature with 2008's similarly minded Tokyo!, which includes a segment directed by Michel Gondry.

Of course, if you don't live around LA or just fear the outside world, you could always rent the dvd I suppose. But even if you end up hating my film with the fury of a thousand white hot suns, how could you fail to enjoy a night at one of the coolest, brimming-with-character movie houses in America? Advantage: NewBev.

End shameless self-promotion sequence. I feel dirty. Anyway, if anyone does end up going, shoot me a message and maybe _margot_ and I could meet up with you for a pre or post movie beer.

I'm not going.

That movies sucks and one of the producers smells like corn chips.

I look forward to this quite a lot.

That's a great theatre, too. And I'll be stuck at work.

I've spent a lot of time at Magnolia, though the ownership saw fit to turn over a bunch of the staff an year or two ago. Given that almost everyone I knew who worked there is gone, I tend to hit the Toronado when I'm in town and the 21st Amendment if I find myself downtown.

Zeitgeist is a great place to spend an afternoon on a sunny day (it's usually sunny there), and possesses San Francisco's only decent outdoor drinking situation.

Thank you Rafi. I am in a much better state than last week, than 3 days ago and today is an even better day. A lot of things all at once just kind of came together in my head. Good place to be.

I am looking forward to the day I send you a movie script wink

Sadly I haven't seen any of that around. As for my cellar it's been mostly cleaned out save for a few of my more potent homebrews and a bottle of Rogue John's 10,000 brew.

You know, that is one of my most favorite movies of all time... and I had no idea you were involved in it until now!

If I had know this was going on, I might have packed a bag and stayed up in LA long enough to enjoy it on the big screen... as I was only able to catch it on DVD.

Will you be involved in NY Je t'aime as well?
Is it wrong to say that there has been a huge bar set with the first film, but do look forward to seeing the results?

Paris is the city of Love... not New York. tongue
