So 1 month ago today I got the call that my best friend of almost 20 years (and I'm only 31) has passed away. We were so tight in high school that many thought of us as a unit, one didn't show up without the other. We basically came as a set. We lived together for a few years in college (and then decided it was best for our friendship to not) and it was a very hetro-lifemate situation.
It all totally sucks. I miss him and it still seems like we just haven't been able to catch up with each other. No matter how much time had passed since we saw each other, once we did it was like no time had passed at all. I cleaned out his apartment last week and have a bunch of his stuff in my house now waiting for his family. I was surprised how going through all his things was actually somewhat therapeutic.
He did bring our high school group back together for the first time in 8 years. His service was lovely and the church was busting at the seams with people.
I could talk about him forever because he was such a great guy. As my mom says it always seemed brighter when he was around. Everyone had more energy and everything was more fun. But I won't bore you with all the rest of it, I just needed to get a little out today. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Thanks to the interwebs and SG mobile I can tell you lovlies that I am enjoying beers (Stella) in an Aloft hotel bar in Chesapeake.
So I'm taking a little mini vacation for the first time in almost a year.
Stayed home and watched TV and slept late for today. I also finally watched Rollercoaster for the first time. This movie was filmed across 3 amusement parks with the 2nd being King'sDominion where I worked for 3 years. It was neat to see the park as it looked in 1977. Some attractions are still there others gone, some of which I remember from childhood trips that were gone by the time I worked there (2000-2002).
Tonight along with some friends I'm headed to Richmond's First Fridays Art Walk to see Disrobed III at Gallery 5 which is a nude art show with live painted models. I've been to the the other 2 as well and am excited to see what they do this time. It hard to convince people that as a guy, one of your favorite art subjects is the female nude form, without being branded a perv. Of course I am a perv, but not for this reason!!!
For the rest of the weekend I'm headed to the beach to relax and take in some sun and enjoy the atmosphere.

So 31 is today's milestone. Its not too bad!
After being in my house for over a year I finally am making some progress to being settled and organized. (never mind this stack of boxes next to me)
I get to spend my weekend at the Virginia Wine Expo which is one of my fav things to do especially with friends and loved ones.

Just got back from a great evening at Busch Gardens. Always love that park. Lots of good memories there.
Also I ended up in line behind Drave on two coasters! She was looking ravishing as always.
Rode the Griffin for the first time...crazy and awesome. Front row too!
Also BG has a nice fireworks display every night @ 9:30. The didn't skimp either. Some of the best I've see in some time.
Things are going well overall. Looking forward to a few days at the beach later this month.

So.....I have been an absentee blogger. Not alot to report.
Job has been progressing well.
House is progressing slowly, mainly because I am lazy.
Right now I am meeting with different landscapers to try to get a patio put in to enjoy this summer and deal with some drainage issues I inherited with this lot. Any RVAers have know any good landscapers/hardscapers?
Otherwise, super stoked for a concert next month at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA.

So long time no update....lots of changes:
Foot is doing much better. New doctor...new approach...new treatment = wonders. Been off the cane and pain meds for some time now. Yay!
New job is going well. Presented to the Board my last few months of work and all was well received. Working on hiring my 2 support positions this week. Side note, Tuesday marked 7 years with the ABC Board for me. Weird.
I bought a house!!!
Moved in a little over a week ago and am enjoying it. Its a 2 bed 2 bath EarthCraft Certified House in the Near West End district of Richmond. It is brand new, built on a lot where an old house was torn down a few years ago.
