Sadly the halcyon days of indolence and relaxation could not last, and it's back to a trillion things to do yesterday, traffic and generally running around like a 17th century French nobleman with my head cut off.
le sigh
The trip was amazing, though, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I also managed to find a bespoke Italian 3-piece suit that just needs the sleeves and hems taken up slightly and is otherwise a perfect fit, and a terrifying woven clown picture for a friend at a great antique mall, eat nothing but delicious local produce that all came from within 5 miles of where I was staying (and some of which I picked myself), go swimming for the first time in two years, and go on a few short hikes.

Packing up the last few things for a 4-day trip to a cabin in upstate NY. There will be swimming in lakes, quiet, stars at night, and no omg we need this yesterday deadlines, or alarm clocks at 6 AM, or hearing neighbors through the ceiling.
Once I finish the all-important mix cd, I'm off to bed, and happy for it.

I'm going to crack the facade here for a moment. (Those of you who've known me forever and to whom I have somehow managed to maintain the illusion of placidity and competence can look away)
OMGWTFBBQ.
Seriously.
A brief recap of the past two weeks, and a horrible run-on sentence that the grammar justiciars will scourge me mercilessly for:
Oh hey, gas leak in my new place, NSTAR comes and is surprisingly competent and professional and fixes, but point out that nothing whatsoever is legal about the brand new furnace I just paid several thousand dollars to install, so they're shutting off some of my gas service, which necessitates me taking a half day from work to go back to collect quotes for, the best of which calls for a complete replacement with a brand new furnace and demolition through three walls for the minimum required venting to the tune of 5 grand, which results in me very politely calling the contractor who did the work who tells me that there's no way he's doing anything or cares without a court order because he "sees the game [I'm] trying to play", which leaves me nauseous with worry for 3 days because there's no way I can get the money together to pay that until October at the earliest and even that requires nothing but ramen from now until then, which I was far too happy to put aside for my birthday party which I quite enjoyed, thanks for all the well-wishing, and yet the shitstorm was inescapable because when I tried to get my car's emission testing done I find my registration wasn't renewed and my insurance has been cancelled as a result which now I need to spend a ludicrous amount of time and money I don't have remedying this week instead of going to work. Did I mention that last week the person in charge of our accounts at work gave two days notice to go to another company, and we had to fire the only other person working in accounting because she was showing up from lunches reeking of alcohol? And that I'm one of three people in the office that can do project oversight work that is being royally screwed by the lack of a financial department? And that I'm preparing the numbers for a multi-million dollar sale of one of our buildings this week and my life would be far simpler with an accounts person to talk to? And that my annual review is next week, during which my long-term role in the company plan will be a major focus?
Anyone care to light me on fire and kill my cats to round things out?

This has nothing to do with anything, really, but it is now a daily necessity. Seriously. Check it out and you will be a happier and more fulfilled person for it.
Blah blah update blah.
Seriously, though, so very much stuff and nonsense. I'm at an odd crossroads of nostalgia for young, innocent *cough cough* foolish me and a lot of pride for all that I've done over the past two years. I suppose that's why I'm revisiting the site in the first time since ever...I remember lots of parties and drinking, random conversation and interesting people; I miss some of the randomness and disaster.
Let's see if there's some traction.
Anybody out there that wants to reconnect?

As silly as it is, I seriously didn't know my account was still up.
I thought I cancelled last October before my annual came up, but apparently I didn't, and it already rebilled for this year, so you're all stuck with me until October of '08 anyway.
So an extraordinarily brief and sketch overview of what's been going on...
- I moved into a new apartment, and will be buying a loft in January *crosses fingers* provided nothing unforseen happens.
- I got a new position heading up the Dolce & Gabbana shop in Saks in Boston. Flew down to New York to help do clothing buys for Saks, etc, etc.
- Started a new job with The Hammersmith Group and MassInnovation doing design and sales consulting for this project, and so left Dolce and Saks. I miss my clothing allowance more than I can put into words.
- Am now involved in all sorts of real estate development organizations and get to go to a variety of interesting meetings and am starting to get involved with some very cool things. I'm extremely happy about it and think I've found a career path that can utilize my personal and creative skills in a universally meaningful way. The more I become involved with sustainable design, renewable practices and civic redevelopment the more excited I am to be a part of an important and necessary change in the way people think about and use buildings.
- I don't get a chance to go out dancing as often as I used to, which is a sadness to me.
So, you should tell me some interesting tidbit that I've missed since last we typed at each other.
Bon reves.

B&D ball tomorrow, Friday the 12th, at the Cyclorama building in downtown Boston. I'll be modeling latex for Vex clothing and dancing with [:Angeldustrial:]
Then I'm staying up all night, going to Logan at 5, and flying out to Pittsburgh for a wedding at 11 AM. It'll be brilliant.
