Zombies are everywhere we look. The living dead. People walking around trying to devour the souls of others in an attempt to feel, or fill the void in themselves if only for a moment. That endless ravenous hunger, driving them forward at the peril of all those drawn closer.

Obviously I don't actually mean brain swallowing, animated corpses. I mean the traumatized, the barren or lost. Those of us that have shut everything out, so that when we feel an emotion other than anguish it is unidentifiable and foreign. We latch onto others in an attempt to complete ourselves, and only succeed in draining the life from them, until they break free from our grasp or join us in oblivion.

We hide among society, normal in appearance until it's too late. The abused, the beaten, the tortured, the bullied, the raped, the abandoned. Our sins hover above us like the sword of Damocles. To be accepted and loved our desire, but neither knowing that sensation nor how to bring it about. Broken inside, and never able to wind quite right.

Tell that someone you love them. Hug someone you care about. Lend a shoulder to a friend who can't stand on their own. Bake someone their favorite cupcakes for no reason. Know when you are over your head, and get someone professional guidance.

We never know when we are that ray of sunshine that lights through the dark times, and sometimes we never will. You can't truly know what someone is thinking, because the truly lost often withdraw from everyone, until all help is forsaken. Thats when it all closes in, and hope drains like the blood from our veins.
For every night their is a dawn however, sometimes we need others to be that light, and other times we just need to know that there is one.

Keep strong, keep a weary eye, a light heart, and an open mind.
