It's been blizzarding for the past couple of days but today it's like this. Come on, Spring!

It's my birthday. If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

"So then I was all like..."

I usually take photos from a casual observer perspective. That is, candids of events or out in nature. Scenery, wildlife, people doing stuff. So it was a bit of a challenge when a friend asked me to do a photo shoot for her daughter. The friend had tried to set up a professional shoot with actual photographers but decided she couldn't afford that and she knows of my hobby and asked me. I was a little nervous. I wasn't quite sure what they wanted and I really wasn't sure my skills or equipment would deliver to their satisfaction (sounds like a date, huh?).

But they were so much fun to work with. The daughter was completely at ease in front of the camera and had some practice working with photographers as a HS cheerleader. They were patient with me as I futzed with the settings and so on. It was freezing cold out but the outdoors pics were fun and we got some good ones. The studio shots were kind of at the end of the afternoon so i didn't spend as much time as I would have liked, but we got a few good shots there as well. Overall, a nice afternoon and they were pleased with the results and I got some much-needed practice doing portraits and posed shots.

I want to do more! I learned a few important things and I want to try some stuff. I gotta see if I can find someone willing to be a subject who'll be patient with me. Anyways, here's a selection from the shoot:
