So the restaurant I went to with my last post was really good. Small place that serves only locally grown product. It was super tasty, 3 Bores is the place. It's more of an appetizer place where you can get together with a few friends and share some grub before heading out to your own devices.

Other things...

My dodgeball team is doing pretty good this spring. We were destroyed in the winter league (finished second last) but we're making improvements this time around. Also getting players to show up, lol...

Work is going really well. I received a raise which kicks in on the 19th! Pretty excited about that. My job site is literally a 5 minutes drive from my house. My crew that I'm running this year is really awesome. Everyone is pitching in. The new guys are learning pretty quick and we're kicking some major ass thus far in relation to our deadline (which is October 17 this year).

Went out and treated my crew on Saturday, that was entertaining. Then there was a small house gathering on the Sunday which was super cool. Met a bunch of new people there and had a great time with Socialbles. Oh the many rules of Socialbles... so much fun.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I almost forgot: I get my motorbike this coming week!!!!!! So excited about that. Custom 1994 Harley Davidson Evolve engine chopper bike. Yeah, it's a mouthful. Basically it's the Evolve engine, a custom frame from 1994 thrown together with a chopper esq feel. The forks are not your typical chopper length. I'll post some pics if I remember.

Ciao

Going out to a new restaurant today with some friends... in about 30 minutes actually. I'm excited as it's also the restaurants anniversary (1 year) and should be all sorts of fun.

Lately I'm finding that I'm lacking some motivation in my life to do anything aside from work. It's like a rut... *now this may turn into a rant or ramble feel free to skip* and I'm really finding it difficult to get out of it. I can't really explain it though. I'm hoping that exercise will jolt some life and/or energy into this situation. I'm also hoping that exercise will jolt some pounds off of me. I typically work 7-8 months of the year then get the other time off consecutively. It's a pretty sweet gig and I don't really find the time when I'm not making money a struggle so things are going well. The problem I'm facing is when I don't work I tend to get lazy. It's blunt, it's the truth and it's kinda ugly. To make a long story short, this past "off-season" (for lack of a better term) I've managed to put on a whopping 42lbs! I don't even know where the hell it all came from! So that's the gist of me trying to lose some pounds and get into some sort of condition to work this year again. I work in construction, and having my gut hold me back isn't appealing right now.

Anyways... if you read through that, thanks... and sorry. If you didn't... you didn't really miss much. I'm learning a lot about communication as I get older. I sorta had a break through the other day and I do owe it to a friend. Have you ever been in a situation where you're arguing (or verbally fighting) with another person and you can feel that you're right. You consult with others over the issue and your friends are telling you "you're doing the right thing" and "keep standing up for yourself" and such. But it's getting you no where... This is the issue I was having with the mother of my soon to be born son. Now I want to make this very clear, I do care about her (she is the mother of my soon to be born son) but it was like talking to a wall. We were together, she broke up with me (it was the right decision though and I've admitted that) and since breaking up with me prior to this break through we were fighting over the name of the child, (first and last) and about us, and things each of us said and did, and yadda, yadda, yadda. The main thing for me was, I want to be in his life. I want to be a dad and be there for him. I didn't get that, and it's not what I wanted for him. So when I'm told that his name was going to be Paxton (and this is no offence to anyone named Paxton) I upset. Now I said that I didn't like the name and I was told "too bad" and there was lots of ignoring and just stupid nit picking at each other.
Finally my friend stepped in with me, and she started telling me that in the end, the child's name has little meaning in comparison to what he will actually mean to me. Also, that if I wanted to raise him in an environment where both parents wanted and practiced good communication, then I had to start that. Ignore all the snide remarks and just be honest and open. Full disclosure and transparency. Instead of just saying that I will be there, actually inquire about how things are going with her and baby rather than just ignore her. Keep in touch and work on it now.
So that's what I've been doing. It's not always easy. Reading this you're probably thinking... sure it is. Now imagine being friends with your last boyfriend or girlfriend because you have to. Not because you want to necessarily, but because there is going to be someone more important than the two of you as a reason. I was going somewhere with this and I sorta skipped to the end of my point... Anyways, the point was it's not always easy and sometimes there are reasons worth making it work. Like our son.
Since the open communication and progress we've amicably come to terms on a name (Mason Cooper) with his last name still up in the air. I'm cool with hyphens and such, she's not at all. There's still time though and we're working on it.

Enough though of my rambling, cause my tummy is talking back to me and unlike me, my tummy isn't good at this give-and-take communication. It's more of a take and me listening conversation, lol...

Enjoy your evening/weekend.

Ciao

Happy Easter to everyone! Hope you have a great day and that it's spent with family and loved ones. I'm about to go to the 'rents' place for a big ol' family gathering. Should be fun times though as some cousins I haven't seen in a few months will be there. Also... who doesn't like chocolate egg hunting? common?!

Ciao wink

A whole year since my last blog... and then some... eek shocked

New things in life:
1) Going to be a dad. I've realized that this is incredibly exciting and at the same time insanely nerve racking.

2) LASIK eye surgery. If you're thinking of getting it, DO IT! You will wonder what took you so long. I'm seeing 20/15 right now (which is slightly better than "perfect vision")

3) finished my sleeve... I don't have photo's. I'm sure that's something I'll look into or address in the future. I've never been a shutter bug, but with #1 happening, I have a feeling that will change drastically.

4) I moved back in April of 2012. Ummm... I don't really have much else to report on that aside from, I like the place. It's a rental right now but it's really good. Best part is it's only a 5 minute commute to work. I work at 6:30am and enjoy sleep.

5) Went to Mexico for a family vacation! Had a blast and was able to enjoy the company of most of my extended family. I was impressed. 16 days in Mexico and no family fights that extended into Christmas. That's a win-win for everyone.

6) Lastly, it's not actually "new" because I haven't started it yet. But I want to try the P90X workout this Monday. I'm nervous, and I've been warned that I'll be sore. Needless to say my friends are not "selling me" on the whole thing.

7) I lied, there is one more new thing. I sold my old motorbike (Yamaha V-Star Custom) and bought a custom Harley Chopper! I'm very excited for the roads to get swept by the street sweepers so I can take the chopper out for a trip.

Hope everyone has been doing well smile

Toronto and New York City... here I come! So for my birthday week (and little bit more) I've decided to hit up Toronto, to visit friends, and since I'm so close to NYC, why the heck not? So excited!!!! First time to both cities, and it's sounding like a fantastic trip! There's some anti-valentines day thing going on (even us single people need to find love on V-day) and some lectures; fun ones about interactive media and such. There's a musical (Wicked!) and lots and lots of sight seeing!

Anyone have any tips, ideas, hints, or secrets for us feel free to let me know. We're staying in the Manhattan area while in New York.

I'll try to post pics on here,

Later wink

So, I'm in Vegas right now, and it's been interesting. Let me start from the beginning.

So needed to wake up early for the flight, no issues with that, it's "Vegas baby" so little issues there. My friend checks in, yadda, yadda, yadda... security was a breeze, but then once we board our plane we have a delay. San Fran had been getting shitty weather, and that is where my transfer was, and we didn't have a long layover in San Fran. So after a 2 hour delay, which we all had to stay in the plane for, lol... that was the worse part, we started to leave. Get to SF, and we missed out flight... first time I've ever missed a flight! So we got lucky, put on stand-by, and just get in on the plane.
Vegas, well it's Vegas. Went to some conferences, saw some people, got my first lap dance! Yes, that's right, my first lap dance shocked and it was fun biggrin Lost a ton of money here, and then it was time to go... lol... or so I thought.
Get to the airport, everything is going great, get on the plane... and... mechanical failure... again, 2 other connections, not much in the way of time between them, and yup, missed everything. So I get put up in a hotel, for free (it's nice and the thought is good) but it's off the strip, and I spent all my money because I wasn't suppose to be hear, lol... Good news, I have access to the internet, which means... drum-roll... I can play with my financials, and still have fun here... I love Vegas, but I hope that everything goes well tomorrow... 7 days here is too much. I can't do it, lol...

Hope everyone is doing well and having fun. Vegas has been a blast thus far, and I bought a really cool jacket! Love it! Lost my money at Spearmint Rhino, lol... and the Roulette table, but it has been fun. Tonight is going to be a little more relaxing, take in "Ka" with all luck, and window shop.

later, wink

2011 was a fun year for me! I moved to Vancouver for a few months to help look after my god-daughters while their family prepared for a change of scenery and they got ready to expect their new baby sister. I went to Europe (Paris, Berlin, Prague and Rome) which was amazing. My friend Johnny and I met some awesome people and got away with posing on a cop car in Paris without getting arrested. The cops were nice, thankfully... lol... Seeing all the structures, tasting the great food, and just experiencing the culture to an extent in those cities was a great experience.
Came home and straight into work, with a pleasant surprise, a raise and more responsibility smile The work season was alright, the rain hindered progress, but lots was learned by myself and a very new crew of workers. I worked 8 months of the season this year, and it was really wonderful in the end. I accomplished one of my goals this year, become credit card debt free!!!! I haven't had that feeling since I was 15, when I first got a credit card with a limit of $100.00, lol... During the corse of the work season I was lucky enough to get a 4 day weekend off, and visit my new god-daughter. So beautiful and precious. Her sisters have welcomed her in, and they all want to help their mom push the stroller or dress their new sister, it's really cute to watch.
This was the year that I made life plans, and could actually see them come together. I made goals this year, and they were almost all attained. I think it's actually the first year where I really clamped down and strived to get my life in order rather than fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants. I must say, it's far more difficult to do the plan and follow it, but in the end immensely more satisfying.
Come the end of the season (Dec) I also got my first tattoo! I have wanted one on/off for about 10 years, and this was the first time I actually pushed myself to go for it. The tattoo is for my brother who passed away when I was 8, and also for my god-daughters.
I almost forgot, this was also the year I joined SG! I had heard of SG a few year ago, but didn't really know much about it. Finally this past Feb (I think) I decided to learn more and joined. Such a great community of people. This also a place that helped me research tattoo's and prepare me for some of the expectations, which was greatly appreciated.
It's the 31st, which is my mom's birthday, so I've wished her best wishes, and now it's time to get ready for a visit. I have a small get-together with friends at a house later this evening to celebrate the New Year, so this year should be capped off very nicely.
I hope everyone has a safe evening, and a great 2012. Please don't drink and drive, and just be patient with the folks who might be trying to forget 2011 this evening and act up. Smile, and wish them a happy New Year, and carry on.

Lots of love, kiss biggrin

Well, well, well... tis that time of year again, so I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Stay safe, please don't drink and drive and cherish the moments you get to have with the wonderful people you will get to see over the holidays smile

I ended up visiting the wonderful Andi, my tattoo artist. She's awesome! She finished some lines up, bolded up the head and coloured it in:

I'm also going to Vegas now in the new year!!!! Conference happening that's work related, and I get to go, so that'll be fun smile Vegas and I have a love/hate relationship... lol... I love my time there, hate that I have no money when I come home and that hangover on the plane ride back tongue

I'm almost finished my Christmas shopping, which is very exciting!

Nothing else is new, so I hope you all have a blast this holidays smile kiss wink

So I'm not a big fan of Christmas. It has nothing to do with religion, more with the fact that when I was 8, my brother committed suicide on the 24th of December... not the best gift. I learned a lot that day, and sorta lost a part of myself. Today though I played Santa for the kids of my co-workers... and I had fun. I don't think it was really anything to do with me being "Santa" but more to do with I was able to hang out with kids and make them happy. Handing out gifts, asking kids what they wanted for Christmas and seeing their faces light up, that was great! I did start to get a tad worried though, because all the kids started swarm a bit and I thought I might get mauled by the little ones, but I survived, lol...
It's a tad crazy how popular a person is when they're dressed up as Ol' Saint Nic. I had kids on a roller coaster yelling at me asking me for presents, lol... We had to turn some "random" kids away because they wanted to sit on my lap and chat, lol... it was funny. My friend will send me pictures, and I'll post them when I get them.

Hope everyone is having a great day, be safe, and good luck with any shopping that you need to accomplish;

Toodles smile

Christmas shopping... ahhh... the time of year when chaos hits all stores and insanity breaks loose over plush animals that talk, books that can literally go "Boo" and clothes that we hope fit the person we're buying for. The mass commercialization of Christmas has become so hectic that mom's throw elbows over lulu hoodies (I've actually seen this) and husbands venture into the store trying to get the gift that will allow him to stay out of the dog house till a birthday or valentines day gift is needed. How did we get from a person dying on a cross and parading him around for the mass public, to gift giving and turkey? LOL... I'm not a religious person, but doesn't this seem a bit odd? They then threw in a man who dresses in red, gets pulled around by reindeer in the sky and elves... How did this happen? When I think of elves I tend to think of Lord of the Rings, and wonder, what would a 100 something year old elf who can shoot a bow, and kick ass want to do in a workshop, working for some fat guy who can apparently wink and wiggle his nose and slide down a chimney? LOL...

Some random thoughts that just came to my mind...

I do know this though, I have 3 god-daughters, and they love them some presents, and they love the act of ripping apart sparkly and shiny paper just to see what they now get to play with. In the end, their happiness, and seeing their smile(s) is what makes this time of the year worth it to me... even if poor Legolas is stuck in a snowy wonderland with no giant elephants to take down, lol.

Hope everyone has fun, and is safe in the chaos that will en-surely happen when you remember that one person who you forgot to buy a gift for and need to head out on the 22nd or 23rd. Give someone a hug, and be kind, and let that person into the lane so they're not cutting you off... everyone is going to be in the same boat...

Happy holidays biggrin
