OK so here's the deal.
November 2009-my 13 year old daughter thinking she was "cool" left a comment on a youtube video alluding to the fact that there is neglect & abuse in her family. There is not. It was a comment from a 13 year old trying to be cool. trust me it has been dealt with. HOWEVER my sister, a nurse, & my brother, a school teacher, somehow found out about this comment through a mysterious 3rd party & told me that because they are OBLIGATED by their professions to report things such as this they were doing me a great favor in telling me that I was an awful parent & that I had better change things or I will loose my kids to the social system. They also told me not to tell "Mommy" because it would just upset her.
December 2009-Do I need to tell you that I chose to stay HOME for the holidays & not visit with the sister, brother & family.
January 2010-I consult legal advice. I inform brother & sister that they are bullies & they had better not treat me in this manner again. Meanwhile Jack-ass I had 4 year relationship with posts profile on Match.com without telling me. I break it off with jack-ass.
February 2010- Jack ass exhusband gets "laid off" kids lose health care. Brother has second child & I forgot that there is an unwritten family rule that you MUST CALL the parents to congratulate them
March 2010-still no work for exhole
April 2010- Suffer through Easter at mothers house with Sister & Brother
May 2010-Take on 3 more classes, rehearsing 3 shows & traveling for work. Get invited to bother's kids christening but can't go because I have already scheduled rehearsal that day. DISCOVER LUMP IN LEFT BREAST
June 2010-Sister in law calls tells me brother is very upset because I don't call or visit anymore. YEAH GUILTY MUCH. (Did I mention that NO ONE EVER visits me because they don't like where I live) But she would like if if things were back the way they were. MOTHER CALLS ME to ask if I can just THINK about changing my plans...WTF?!?!
Should I call my mother back? Tell her that the last 8 months have been HELL & the last thing on my mind is changing my schedule because my brother is upset?! What about all the upset he caused me? What about the fact that I could have fucking cancer right now?!
Am I missing something here?!
Cause I can be oblivious to things some times but COME ON?!

Stand your ground. There is no reason for you to reach out to them until you feel comfortable doing so. Which may be forever. Their loss.

You are under no obligation to do anything. They pushed you away, and now they are throwing themselves a pity party over the way it is now. As far as telling your mother about it? Fuck it, why not? If they are getting her involved, might as well get her all the way involved and let her see what they have done. That might alleviate some of the guilt trip bullshit that has been coming your way.
Can we make cupcakes now? In the nude? Ok, maybe just a chef's hat
