It's been a while since I've visited the post. Hope we're all doing well. I think I'm back here as a result of the site's marketing program, by which exSG members are invited back for a 90-day run for free. Happy to be here; sorry to see so many friends are gone. Ink, in particular, but also Visual, Sky, Melika (heart, heart; love of my life down under, loin of my loin), Curry, Cambria, Charlize (heart, heart, love of my life in the great Northwest), Lily (heart, heart; just plain ol' love of my life), and Fatality. Guess we all move on, part of the great circle of life. Best wishes for all incumbent SGs. Love, Phaedrus33 kiss kiss

Had an exchange with hollygolightly from new zealand (soon to be from new york) that went like this:

She asked: what do you teach? i am currently teaching creative writing at a university. (not as impressive as it sounds), while i am completing my masters degree in creative writing

He responded: I teach writing to professionals, who should by this point in their lives know how to write better than they do. It's a lot of fun, but I suspect your students are a livelier bunch than mine.

he wrote: An aside: you and I joined the SG site at about the same time, so maybe your experiences are similar to mine. I've seen some amazing writing here . . . gut-wrenching, thought-provoking, impossibly comic and deeply moving. I really think there's material here for a book. Any thoughts along these lines?

in response:

she said: you know what, i would almost have to disagree... i don't see a very high quality of prose on sg. sure it's entertaining and it has its moments of beauty, but in general i can't really imagine it being in a book. but that's just me.

he said: perhaps you're right . . . I suspect what I'm reacting to is the raw emotion I sometimes see here . . . it's like the kind of narrative Jack Kerouac used in "On the Road," with the same kind of sometimes-nervous energy mixed with lust mixed with self-awareness. It's not something I'm able to contribute to, but as you say, it's entertaining.

I was surprised: I have seen some awesome writing and some journals that would be worthy of global exposure: they were smart, kind, cutting, harsh, heartbreaking, and incredibly inspiring.

So my journal question, based on my exchange with hollygolightly, is:

If you think just about the SG journal entries, do you think men (or boys, if applicable) see SG journal entries from a different perspective then women (or girls) ? If so, how?

Do you think the SG journals would be a source for a cultural or sexual anthropologist to turn to when defining our cultural and sexual heritage in 2005?

And Sky, I hope you're right: you said if I posted a new journal I could still access my old journal responses. I sure hope so; that's where I have my responses to the kisses question.
