"While gathering flowers in a field one day, Persephone was abducted to the Underworld by Hades, who arose in his chariot from a fissure in the ground. Demeter, goddess of the harvest, was heartbroken, and while she wandered the length and breadth of the earth in search of her daughter, the crops withered and it became perpetual winter. At length Hades was persuaded to surrender Persephone for one half of every year, the spring and summer seasons when flowers bloom and the earth bears fruit once more. The half year that Persephone spends in the Underworld as Hades' queen coincides with the barren season."

This goes to show you that most of my friends are from this website. Silencia, Lyxzen, myself, Venice, Doxie.
Also in attendance but not pictured; Erica and London

In other news, I started an Etsy shop! I originally started making illustrations to apply for a biological illustration internship at the California Academy of Sciences, which I am still waiting to hear back about. I am losing hope that I have been accepted, but my art has been given new life and surprisingly has generated a lot of interest. Here are some examples of my work.

You can see more in my Etsy shop Hexapoda Illustration where you can buy prints and soon I will have originals for sale and an option for custom orders.
Besides getting married over Spring Break, I also did some field work. I went to Conboy Lake Wildlife Refuge in Washington to help count egg masses of the endangered Oregon spotted frog. That's me on the right looking cool in my waders.

I also helped out a bird friend a while back. I found a pigeon downtown who was unable to fly because he was covered in something very sticky. I brought him home and he lived in my sun room for a week or so. I bathed him every day until he could fly. I never figured out what the substance was, but my best guess is creosote from a chimney, as it was black and tarry.
I named him Mr. Sticky.

Here are some photos from recent shoots.

By tmronin We shot some stuff for Zivity, too, which is new to me. I look forward to seeing the rest of the photos, he was really fun and easy to work with

Dwam just sent me the unedited photos from our shoot last year and they are amazing! I don't want to unveil any previews until she edits them, but I do want to show you what she did for my hair!

Now I'm off to have lunch with Venice then go to a shoot, come home and start writing one paper on bats and another on Africanized bees. My life never stops.

It's mushroom season in the PNW! I really dislike eating mushrooms, they are spongy and slimy, yuck! I do think they are pretty and interesting organisms, so I like to take photos of them.
My poor dog got attacked by another dog who escaped from her yard. It was quite an ordeal and one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me. He is healing up just fine and her person is going to pay my vet bills.
I had a shoot with an adorable couple who photographed me simultaneously with multiple types of cameras, mostly film. It was fun and I love the photos! Kim+Phil Photography
I'm also in the most recent issue of Rise Tattoo Magazine, it's French and doesn't seem to have a proper web page, but fortunately, the lovely Shaine sent me two copies! Photo by P_mod

I turned 30.

I went on some adventures.

I started school and have been working hard at the lab.

Spider photos under the spoiler. I had people crying at me on instagram about posting spiders, so at least I can hide them for you here.
Hanging around, trying to study.

It looks like 93% is my lucky number. It's too bad, P_mod is such an awesome photographer, I wish I could do him justice and be just as good of a model. I appreciate the love and comments everyone has given on my set Bad Luck. The reaction to this set has really made me want to retire from SG modeling, but I have two other sets waiting to be prepped and submitted, so I guess I will wait ![]()

I have one new photo from my extracurricular modeling.

October 13th, which is unfortunately a Saturday and not a Friday, my newest set of photos entitled Bad Luck will be in MR for your viewing pleasure. Photos by P_mod.

As mentioned in my last entry, my 10 year SG anniversary just passed. My first set went live on August 30th, 2002, but according to the site, I officially joined SG on August 6th, 2002. I have no idea, since there was no Limbo, Hopefuls or Member Review back then. It was probably the date I was given access to the site, but I didn't have a computer then so I had no idea.
So, you may be curious what has changed since 2002?
-When I joined there were about 70 girls
-My first set was the 241st set to go live on SG
-To become a Suicide Girl, I had to call Missy and meet her at a coffee shop where she showed me some sample photos
-I shot my first 3 sets in one day and got paid $100 for all 3
-The first SG I ever met was Katie, she came in to shoot her sets after I was done (then she turned out to be my boyfriend's best friend's sister!)
-Back in the day, this was called a journal, not a blog
-They used to ask us not to talk about our significant others here (I guess to appear available to the members?)
That's all I can think if now, I wasn't really active until I got a computer in like 2005.
Here's some recent photos.

I shot a new set with Sunshine and in the company of the adorable Bully. It will be a while before you see it, I still have a set by Dwam waiting, too. Here is a quick preview just straight off the back of the camera. It was super fun, and my first outdoor set!

You can find me on Tumblr and Flickr, also hexapoda on Instagram.
So yeah, naked on the internet for ten years, can you believe it? Personally, I think I look a lot better now than when I was 19.
From my very first set, when I was so skinny and awkward and didn't know how to do my make up.

From my most recent set, ten years older, 15lbs heavier and better make up.

I'm probably going to be too old for this place soon. I'm ten years older than most of the SGs these days, I feel a little creepy. I was never super active here and I rarely sought out shooting opportunities. I have only been shooting more recently because photographers have been visiting Portland and asking me to shoot. I guess as long as people want to shoot me, I'll still do it. I am actually surprised that I am somewhat in demand as a model seeing how poorly my sets do here.
Well, I have two sets in the works by Dwam and P_mod and I'm shooting with Sunshine in a couple of weeks, so you at least get to see three more sets of me before I retire
I don't have any set preview for you yet, but I do have some portraits by P_mod that are very nice. He is an amazing photographer!

A few other modeling photos.

In other news, I adopted a displaced huntsman spider. Her name is Osita and she was found in some bananas from Mexico. I took her to live at my lab where we have a steady supply of crickets for her to eat.

My work at the lab, illustrating spider genitals.

I went to an event at a local shop called Paxton Gate. They sell things like taxidermy, pinned insects, bones, fossils, carnivorous plants and other science/biology/natural history paraphernalia. They invited an entomologist to come and show his huge personal collection of pinned insects (and other invertebrates). It was amazing and he was really cool! I feel bad because I kind of hogged his attention for a lot of the time, but he seemed to want to talk to me, too. I am normally a very introverted, anxious person in social situations, but when I get around other biologists and people who are passionate about insects, I actually become engaging and interesting. It's a very rare thing for me. Anyway, I asked if he would do his presentation at my wedding reception and he was totally into it! Not sure how my guests will feel about it, but I'm excited!

Here is my photo dump for the last two months.
