I had a great interaction with a veteran the other day. But to tell the story would be bragging on my part. The day is his, not mine.

I'll be busy working this weekend. (Thank God) So here is a Memorial day post a little early:

"US military deaths in Iraq war at 4,081
By The Associated Press - 8 hours ago

As of Friday, May 23, 2008, at least 4,081 members of the U.S. military have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

The figure includes eight military civilians killed in action. At least 3,328 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

The AP count is one fewer than the Defense Department's tally, last updated Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.

The British military has reported 176 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 21; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, seven; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia, three; Estonia, Georgia, Netherlands, Thailand, Romania, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, South Korea, one death each.

The latest deaths reported by the military:

A soldier was killed Thursday by a roadside bomb southwest of Baghdad.
The latest identifications reported by the military:
No identifications reported. " AP Article, May 23. 2007.

All I can say is thank you to the veterans out there.

I worked a lot this passed weekend. Even on Mothers day. I do retail in the mall. So, it could have been bad. But it turned out o.k. Even got more hours than scheduled.

There are funny customer stories. I'll post those later.

Mothers Day went very well. My Mother was so pleased with our get together she bought me an action figure.

From the 4th Indian Jones movie. Not technically a GI Joe. But made by the same company that makes them.

Check out Cate Blanchet in the movie:

Hot stuff.

The movie took 18 years to get made. So it is taking place 18 years after the last one. This movie is set in 1957. And this time Indy battles the Soviets. Yes, Cate plays Irina Spalko a Russian Archeologist.

Update: Well, I was watching the Palm Bay fires on tv and newsman says "A fire just started at Wickham and Parkway". That is where I live.

I ran over and watched for a couple of hours. Now I smell like camping.

Told the firefighter that if they wanted help, I would help them. I did step on some mulch that was smoldering.
