American Apparel is going out of business. I'll bet they could save their asses by catering to larger ones instead of only offering sizes above a woman's 8/10 for their t-shirts. Americans are fat. I was a 10/12 even when I was very fit and trim in college. Evolve or die retailers. whatever

Trying to plan a trip to California for my birthday or close to it. I'd like to hit Magic Mountain and maybe Knott's since they're both in Halloween mode at the end of October/early November.

If we can figure out a way to work around the kid's school schedule, we'll drive down with stops in Southern Oregon (obligatory family stop), then see friends in Monterey, Oakland, SLO County (where I grew up) and San Diego. I'll keep you all posted in case any of you want to see me while I'm down there.

Meanwhile, I'm still job-searching, working on a book proposal and starting up the business again, and saving for when we inevitably have to move out of this house- probably in February. I'm also looking for a good therapist who specializes in cognitive behavorial stuff. I've done a lot of soul searching recently and I know now that my inability to trust anything or anyone is keeping me from maintaining friendships.

In the meantime, anyone who wants to hang out with me is going to have to recognize my lychee-like nature and strategically avoid my poky exterior to get to my sweet, gushy insides. wink

Also, being crafty is always good for my emotional/mental state. I am working on transforming this jacket into a corset:

It will match my new hair. smile

I dig the hair, love lychees & roller coasters. I hope you get to make the trip. Another reason to be a proponent of "year round" school is the easier to work around regular breaks. [Though my daughter throws me the most venomous looks whenever the subject comes up wink - yep, their both lucky to have me around . . . I provide the comedy relief].

Or if they offered things at a slightly more reasonable price. In Canada anyway...and I love the hair color.

I'm pretty sure their demise has much more to do with what a fuckstick Dov Charney is, but it certainly is weird for me to have to buy a large t-shirt to have it fit properly.

Ah, Colossus. How many times did I ride that damn thing growing up? Make sure to keep us posted. One never knows when I might be able to make it out of the house.

Peeled lychees remind me of eyeballs. Maybe that's the secret. be more eyeball-like.

Oh fuck, lychees.

Have you been through the parts of CA with redwoods? It's insane. I think if you're driving down, you should do that.

Of course! Back in those days you'd finish the ride frontways and the operator would yell, "Who wants to go backwards?!" and we'd all scream in mixed glee and terror.

I have never had one of those!

The American Apparel thing doesn't surprise me at all. Then again, I thought most of the clothing they have had recently make people look like assholes anyway.

Good luck with the book thingy!

Yeah, but your neighborhood is in Portland! (Actually, Portland reminds me a lot of Louisville, only much, much cooler more progressive, and having a way better climate.)
