So I'm back on here because "someone, who wishes to remain anonymous, has paid for a 3-month membership". Uh huh. If one of you actually did that, then thanks. II remain skeptical...but hey...free pix of nekkid people!

"You find as you look around the world that every single bit of progress in humane feeling, every improvement in the criminal law, every step toward the diminution of war, every step toward better treatment of the colored races, or every mitigation of slavery, every moral progress that there has been in the world, has been consistently opposed by the organized churches of the world. I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world."

And another part of the history of my youth falls away:

(03-04) 10:50 PST MILWAUKEE, (AP) --

Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.

The smell of wet tamarisk, sage, and Russian olive is thick in the air.

There's just a sense of hope and renewal when it rains in the desert.

Had my cousins in town over the weekend for the Bob Hope golf tournament. I only ever see them this one time a year--they live in utard. Drank way too much, smoked way too much, and enjoyed their company just the right amount, LOL!

Meatloaf was in the celebrity amateurs tournament. He was really nice, and I told him I loved his daughter's new record. He said he was so proud of her. Alice Cooper was in his group on the course, and was really funny and nice to everyone. The tournament's hosted by George Lopez, who was hilarious, as was Samuel L. Jackson, strutting around in his pink pants and matching sweater. Jimmy Fallon was my fave, tho. He was cracking jokes the whole time, and is a good player. All the celebrities interacted with the crowd, and some stayed hours after the event was over to sign autographs. Plus, $44 million to local charities over the lifetime of the event is impressive.

Have a good week, gang. And spare a thought for Dr. King.
