I woke up this morning with one hell of a hangover; last night was a nice solitary evening filled with lots of booze( beer, wine, and tequila) and loud music, and now I suffer for my indulgences...
Today is not a good day for me; About an hour ago, I received notice that a good friend of mine passed away last night( of a heart attack), he was 54. I feel sorry for his wife and children. Events such as this cause me to examine my own mortality, and cause me to descend into nihilism. The worst part of all of this is that this last weekend, he invited me over to his home for our usual discussions on history, politics and current events, but I declined because I was going to a stupid sports event...

The forth of July, Independence Day; more like my independence from reality day (my god, I must have drank 15 beers, I had multiple shots of jagermeister, and a few martinis)...!!! Then when I tried to light fireworks( alcohol + explosives = BAD) I burnt my thumb...I will never drink again!!!
Everything was going great for me today, and I decided to go on a morning jog, and during the process of jogging, I tripped and twisted my ankle; now, I am walking like an old man with a limp, and my ankle is wrapped with an ace bandage....
Sometimes it is best to take it easy, even if things are going great...

Today I felt poetic, and decided to write 4 related haiku's, here they are:
Solitude is a virtue
one has time to reflect
and grow in wisdom...
As time goes by
one finds, they need time
to socialize and mingle.
When navigating through life
one shall witness a desire
for greatness and prosperity...
Eventually one will see
all that which really matters
are connections and bonds...
I am happy that I got that out of my system...

Today is june 6, 2007, The 63rd anniversary of the Normandy invasion by Allied troops, although the war has been over for 62 years, on dates like this I feel almost connected with the past. Is there anyone else who feels a sort of connection to the past on certain key dates?
I just joined SG today, and therefore this is my first posting. Heard of the site from friends, so I checked it out and liked it. Seems like a great place for a person just outside what is considered the norm.
