Well, I am finally back on here after my little hiatus. I had some problems with my credit card, and then some family problems, which I hope are all sorted out now.
I also have a pretty big anouncement to give to you all in the next couple of weeks. It's gonna be cool, trust me.
By the way, a big thank you to Lapis_Phoenix for buying me a membership. Without him, I wouldn't be here now.

OK, I promised my next post would be more positive, so here it is.
I have been a huge fan of fantasy artwork for quite some time. Right next to horror, fantasy is my favorite genre. I remember not long ago, watching the Lord of the Rings bonus disc and seeing some of the artists who worked on the art production and designs for the movie. One of them really stood out to me, and that was John Howe. I loved his vision so much, I wanted nothing more than to jump into the paintings he made and live there forever.
So anyhoo, I just did a search for his artwork on Yahoo Images and saved a bunch of his awesome artwork to my pictures folder. I put them in a folder on my computer, so check them out and see his brilliance! Go now!
And another reason to be happy, this Friday I am going to see the Metallica. OK, so not the real Metallica, but a supposedly perfect Metallica cover band called Battery. Its said that Lars Ulrich (that little fucker!) once claimed they sounded more like Metallica than Metallica sounded like Metallica. Since the the good ol' thrashy Metallica is all but dead, maybe these guys will be the next best thing to seeing the original live. I'll update as to whether they are good or not. Here's hoping they are, because the last time I saw a live show on TV of Metallica, James was acting all silly and stupid during Fade to Black, which is certainly not a song to act silly to.
OK, now I am going to go and read some of the new comic books I got. The stack of the unread is just gettin bigger and bigger all the time. It's time to trim it down some.

If there is one thing I hate, its what my friend Goat calls "internet gangsters". People who have this mighty attitude over the internet, when in real life their pussies. Well, this guy right here
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=1553522
is one such person. I used to belong to a forum on another site for some shit Goth (god I hate that fuckin' word) band, and this Deviancy guy has been a fan of the band and an active, and surprisingly 'likable' member of the bands forum for a long time considering the amount of posts he has.
Well, some time ago I realized I hate this whole 'Goth' scene and I left it behind. I wrote a goodbye thread on the forum expressing my thoughts and feelings on the matter, and I mentioned some things about my personal life that probably should have remained unsaid on a public forum. The bands lead singer, who is active on the boards, replied and was actually quite nice and understanding of my decision to no longer be interested in 'Goth' or his band anymore, and we had our parting words. It would have been better to have wrote him an email instead, but there were a few others on the forum that I liked and I wanted to say goodbye to. But this guy, who always has something stupid to say, replied and said some very unneccesary (sp) things about my post, much of which he knew nothing about. He made assumptions, he poked fun at my depression, and flat out insulted me. Over the internet. He can do this because I'll bet he thinks he' safe. And in a physical manner, he is. But Karma bites people like him on the ass. And the longer it takes, the harder it will be. I have no remorse for this fucker. He has been an asshole since I joined that forum, and has expressed his hatred of Metalheads for some unknown reason many times. His website http://ookiespookie.com/ has even had a section on mocking 'fake goths' and random Metalheads he doesn't like that he searched for on the internet. He took that down though, and with good reason. These were total strangers he placed up here, and he claimed he was doing it 'tongue in cheek', but mocking strangers like that is just ignorant and sickening. I wish I had the means to show you all what this section was about (it was called something stupid like Style Police), but he took it down a while ago.
I am extremely angry right now. I honestly am glad that I live clear across the country from this guy, because if I didn't I would seriously find him and kill him.
Deviancy, you goddamn son of a bitch, I hope you get whats coming to you. Fuck off.......
Sorry if I seem like a monster, but I needed to get my anger out somehow, and writing these posts can be very cathartic. I promise my next post will be much more positive.

Well, last night was interesting. When I got off of work, I went over to my car, and stopped because I kept hearing a cat meowing over and over again. I told the other guys I worked with before they drove off, and they started to hear it too. We went over to the source of the meowing, which was a white pickup truck, and searched inside for this cat. Finally, we found out that it was stuck under the bed of the truck, on top of the gas tank. Goat managed to crawl under there and get the cat out. It almost ran away until I grabbed it. It was very scared and quite dirty, but aside from a small scratch on its lip, it was uninjured. I told Goat that I knew a place we could take it, and after he dropped off another guy we work with me and him could go up to this 24 hour animal hospital.
So I put the kitty, which was still a very young kitten, maybe 10 weeks at the oldest, in my car and drove over to Goats house to wait for him. I was afraid the kitty would get stuck somewhere in my car, and as soon as I got to Goats house he jumped out from the back seat and looked at me, meowing constantly. He was adorable, and he refused to stay put. I pet him for a while trying to calm him down. Right before Goat got home, his sister came outside and I showed her the kitten. She loved it, and so did Goats cousin. Now I think the little kitty has a good home.
But I can't imagine what would have happened to him if I hadn't said something about the meowing.

So not that long ago I had an argument of sorts with one of the so-called True Goths from the eighties. He wasn't really the nicest person in the world, though everyone else on this particular site liked him a lot. Probably because they all thought alike. Anyways, he made all these laims about how the Goth community isn't about haunted type stuff or any kind of horror-related theme. Instead,it's really about rebelling from the norm (duh!) and embracing politics (!). He went on to basicaly call me a moron and anyone who even thought Goth scene was about dakr things is a stupid misguided fool.
Now I looked into this whole "Goth scene" thing a while ago, and I honestly have to say that this guy was right in some ways. As far as music goes, The Cure Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division and most of the others really didn't have anything the least bit spooky or haunting about them. More like depressing. And even the Sisters of Mercy had many songs that were politically based. Of course, the Sisters and The Cure never liked being called Gothic in the first place, and maybe everyone should have listened to them and changed the defintion of the scene in the first place.
So what I want to know is why does everyone associate haunted themes and stuff like vampires, graveyards and dark castles with the Goth scene if the scene really has nothing to do with that stuff in the first place? If the original bands never had that sort of imagery in the music presentation then exactly where does the connection come from?
I've done my homework on this. The legend goes that Joy Divisions manager called the band "gothic compared to what was mainstream" at the time. Thats supposedly how it all got started. But I once read an article from 1972 about how Black Sabbath had a major influence on music that could be considered Gothic in the modern meaing of the word. And I think they fit my definition of Goth a bit more than Joy Division. I will try to find that article later tonight and post it.
Yeah, I know all about how the Goth scene came out of the Punk movement, and was characterized by atmospheric music and depressive lyrics. A study of what the word Goth originally meant will bring us down a long road. Most everyone knows about the barbarian Goths and the style of architecture known as Gothic. The buildings done in the Gothic style (which is one of my favorite styles by the way) were described as having an "ugly beauty", which is where the connection with the later use of the word comes in. The literature known as Gothic has dark settings, such as old castles and graveyards, as well as supernatural or bizzare, mysterious happneings. Again, it has that sort of dark attractiveness to it.
But when we get to the whats considered Gothic music, we come upon a use of the word which, I personally just can't understand. The Cure, despite their claims to the contrary, are still considered by and large one of the pivotal bands in the Gothic movement. But exactly how are they considered Gothic if their music really has no "dark beauty" to it. Sure, they had quite a few moments of dark themes in their songs, but it doesn't connect with the whole haunting/vampire/old castle theme I mentioned earlier. Neither does Joy Division, and neither does The Mission UK, or Sisters of Mercy, or Christian Death (who, in all fairness, had touches of Gothic themes, but ruined it with poor musicianship and bad singing). No vampires, no graveyards, nothing.
But I think now that the real problem here is that I have a different idea of what the Gothic scene should be, and so does my "friend" that I had the argument with. Maybe the Goth scene doesn't really exist, at least not coherently. I persoanlly have another set of bands that I consider Gothic. And yes, most of them are Metal bands. Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Cradle of Filth, Tristania, Danzig, Samhain, Type O Negative, Sirenia, Gothminister, My Dying Bride, The Vision Bleak...the list goes on.
And for non-metal Goth bands, theres the great NOX ARCANA, one of my personal favorites. I urge everyone to check them out if your interested in spooky music.

And I know I am risking my popularity by saying this. I have lost friends over voicing my feelings before on this stuff, but I would rather not remain silent.

This was originally a post I had about how much I hate the "Goth community", but it was a bit harsh, so I deleted it.
OK, so my Ghost Hunting endeavor didn't turn out so good. I couldn't find any flashlights, I had a real hard time getting pictures, and I damn near chickened out once I looked further down that dark dark road. Even if you don't believe in ghosts, that road was fuckin' creepy as all hell. Even in the day time the place was really dark and spooky.
I actually had a decent number of people go with me too. There were six of us in all, and while we drove there we all talked of our ghostly experiences. Its odd, but everyone I know has had some sort of encounter. Almost all of them are not easy to just brush off with a simple explanation either. I don't believe every ghost story I hear, but I believe most of them. I've had one, so I know this shit is real. And seeing/experiencing them almost gives you a sort of natural high. Maybe thats one reason I am obsessed with ghosts and spirits.
So we went from Bottom Road to a nice little old graveyard that dates back to the seventeen hundreds to hang out for a while. The only person with us who doesn't believe in ghosts wasn't convinced with our little hunt either. I'm hoping we can take him on another one. Maybe he'll be convinced. He seemed to have fun making fun of us though, lol.
We are most likely going back to Bottom Road agian this weekend, this time with equipment, and I will go further than last time. Heres hoping we capture something.
Again any ghost or paranormal encounter any of you have had and are willing to share are welcome. I love hearing about them!

So I have been interested in ghosts and ghost hunting for some time now. I always talk about actually doing it, but I never really got around to it until now.
Tonight, me and a few friends are going to a road called Bottom Road, which is only like 15 minutes from my house, to investigate an interesting story of a little girl with blood on her dress who sits by the road and crys. She supposedly looks so real that people have stopped and asked her whats wrong, then she vanishes. Tonight, hopefully, we will find some evidence of this story. Who knows it may even happen to us. I certainly hope so.
If I find anything, I will post it up here. I will make a new folder in my pictures for ghosts and paranormal things.
And if anyone has ever had some sort of ghostly encounter that they would be willing to share with me, I would love to hear about it. I am in no way judgemental when it comes to this stuff, so no worries there.
OK, time for me to get myself ready and scope out Bottom Road in the daytime and see how it looks and where it goes and all. Heres hoping it not just a legend.
