Oh I'm so bored.

I have stuff to do but I appear to be in a total lack of motivation vortex. What do you mean it permanently follows me around? Ok, I give - I'm a slacker. I don't like working. I find it gets in the way of doing lots of things that I enjoy, such as drinking, sleeping, hanging out, messing about on the internet, (although that said, here I am anyway...) drawing, reading and getting lots of nothing done. Seriously, the amount of doing nothing I have to catch up on... I may never clear the backlog.
I particularly object to having to spend over £100 on fuel every month to get to work, to earn more money for fuel, to get to work... if the words 'ad infinitum' just popped into your head, you're not alone.

You know when you have that, "if I won the lottery..." conversation with people? It always amazes me when people say they'd keep working. I mean like lockjaw inducing droppage of the lower mandible. Sometimes it makes me wonder if I want to keep knowing the person any longer. Well, ok not that bad, but it freaks me out.
I mean, if I won the lottery, my office chair would spin so fast upon my exit that it may drill a hole in the floor. Actually let's be honest, if I found out I'd won at the weekend, there's no way I'd be going in on Monday.

Anyway, some people say, "I'd start my own business!" with a big grin. You can see them thinking how great it would be to work for themselves and call the shots. It's at this point I like to say,
"You'd start your own business? To do what exactly? Business exist for one reason - to earn money. You've just won the lottery, so you have all the money you'll ever need. Don't you think you're being a bit greedy? Maybe you should think about helping others!"
It's cruel but watching the smile come crashing off their face is classic. (Ok, I admit I've never actually done this because I'm too nice to do it, but it sounds like it would be great.)

I guess it just never occurs to these people that there are other things you could do with your life besides work. That's how deeply ingrained it is. There are studies that show that people respond to group pressure way more than they think they do and society is the ultimate peer group. If you don't work, you're a waster. Only people with severely low self esteem can put up with that kind of pressure. The rest of us give in, and hand over copious amounts of our day to people who decide how little we get in recompense for it, me included. Ah... I hear you cry, but if you don't work, you don't earn money, cannot improve your own life or that of others and don't contribute to society! Absolutely true, it's pretty much a flawless system, but consider this - you've won the lottery. You will contribute more than most in taxes and you can improve the lives of others with charitable donations etc. You have the opportunity to improve your life in any way you see fit. Do you still want to keep working?

Me, I'd travel for as long as possible, see everywhere and everything I ever wanted to and do all the things I wanted to do but couldn't previously, either because of lack of money or time. Think of the amount you could see, do and learn!

I reckon that could take the rest of my life.

So I met up with a few of the SGUK'ers last night and what a top bunch they were. We had a few drinkies in the Apple, with various comments being passed as to the cheesiness of various ciders, which is why I'm glad I stuck to San Miguel.

After that was a pizza in Renatos and then King Billy called us from across the road. As is my usual way in the King Billy I got everyone around the pool table. Many games were played. Some were won, some were lost, but by the end of it I couldn't see straight enough to pot anything, even though earlier in the night I'd finished one game off by downing the last ball and the black in quick succession.

We headed back to the Dukes after grabbing more sustenance from a nearby vendor and had more beer while watching Father Ted. I decided that I'd probably had enough at this point and said goodbye to everyone and left. For some reason I walked out of the front door and turned in the exact opposite direction to the way we'd come, thereby ending up on Gloucester road. I walked down there for a minute before realising I was heading away from town, and thus home.

Anyway I managed to get home eventually and hope to repeat the experience soon.

Cheers guys.

Well I've had the best couple of days I can remember for a long time.

H came down on Wed evening and got a bit lost, which isn't difficult in Bristol - it can be pretty hard to navigate if you don't know your way around. I skated out to meet her as she wasn't that far and gave directions for where I would meet her. Unfortunately she bombed straight past me, so I followed on my board in hot pursuit, hoping she would see me in her rear view. She didn't but fortunately she stopped not far from my house.

Once we'd met up and got home it was obvious she was as excited to see me as I was her, but we were both that little bit nervous. Sure we've talked a lot on the phone and online, and sure, some of that had been pretty flirty, but here we were face to face and neither of us were quite sure what to do next.
To break the ice a little I decided we should go out for dinner and we had a great veggie mezze each at a little place around the corner.

We listened to music and talked for a while when we got back and she got to meet both my housemates. The rest of the evening took care of itself and Thurs we got up late and headed into town to meet a friend of mine. Then we had a walk around Bristol, holding hands and talking and just generally enjoyin gbeing together at last. We did have a bit of a 'whoops' moment when we saw the assistant manager of our bristol store ahead of us on the street, (H was supposed to be ill that day,) but we don't think he spotted us.
She left about 5pm in order to get back for work the next day and I went with her to the bottom of the M32 to make sure she got through town ok. We said our goodbyes (only for a week,) at the petrol station and I skated home.

We're 'officially' going out and I'm totally smitten - can't wait to see her again.

Ok... things have moved on again with H. After lots of online flirting... we're meeting up tomorrow! (It's not like we've never met before but this is the first time we've met in a romantic sense?)

I have to tidy my room tonight! She's got tomorrow off so is driving down, staying over and then calling in sick on Thursday... I've just booked Thursday off so we're spending the day together.

Apparently she's as excited as I am, which is awesome, because she's saying she probably won't sleep tonight. That's pretty excited.

Oh and I haven't smoked all day. Feeling pretty good.

Well things have moved on somewhat with H since I last posted.
We've been chatting on MSN pretty much all day Friday and today, as well as calling each other on a night and whenever I call her she sends me a text afterwards, usually to say how much she likes talking to me.

I have an almost schoolboy type crush on the girl and the best thing is I know it's the same for her. She keeps telling me how hot I am, (I don't think I'm that hot myself, but hey,) so I told her today that she'd have to stop or my ego would become some kind of monster and may need restraining so it didn't hurt passers-by. Apparently she wasn't scared by the thought of this and has resolved to tell me every day.

Anyway inbetween flirting and so on, we've made plans to meet up again. She's coming down in a couple of weeks, (which will be after pay day - perfect,) and she's staying over. It took her about a minute for her to ask me if she could stay over - she's really forthcoming about telling me she likes me, (which is awesome, I hate the 'does she like me or not' type of situation,) but shy about other things which is seriously cute.

Ok, before I end up writing a short novel about how great this new girl is, I'll quickly round up the weekend's events.

Friday I went over to E's house. We were going to have bean burritos but decided we weren't hungry after eating most of her home made salsa with doritos. So we drank instead. 3 & 1/2 bottles between us. We danced around her living room like loons and danced out in the street like loons while we were smoking, with the music blaring out of the window. I'm guessing the neighbours hated us. At 3am we decided we were hungry after all and ate the burritos which were great.

Saturday I was pretty rough from the night before and also from having to get up at 10am to ring my mechanic about yet another problem with my poor little car. I went over to my mate D's house to drop some stuff off for him to watch, read and listen to. I had a quick bifta and headed into town to have a look around the comic shops and to get a card for my housemate's birthday. As I got home E invited me out for a coffee (or tea in my case,) with her & her friend A. They invited me to watch some stand up on the evening but I stayed in and I watched a film, not wanting to drink.

Sunday I pottered about doing chores and the like and then my other housemate V and I went out for a meal, then to the pub and ended up a little squiffy.

And then it was now.

Well it's been an interesting couple of days.
I've been chatting to our Chester manageress on msn a bit (I'll call her H...) and said she could give me a ring last night if she wanted - all very casual. I got home and my housemate was laid out on the sofa enjoying her second day off work after catching my cold. I got a call, but it was my ex. We hadn't spoken since she told me she was seeing someone else about a week before.

We got talking about that whole thing. Apparently the guy she's seeing is a friend of a friend who she's known for about 4 years. For some reason, that helped me get over the whole thing - not sure why but whatever.

While I was on the phone to her I heard beeps and hoped H hadn't been trying to ring me, but that was S asking when I was coming over because she was hungry. I left my housemate, (who was a little dejected at seeing me go,) and went over to S's to eat and watch Ren and Stimpy.
H texted me saying she had been going to call but then had got nervous and wasn't sure why - sounds like she likes me I thought, otherwise why would she be nervous?
I told her not to worry, she could still ring me if she wanted otherwise I'd speak to her tomorrow (today.).

Well we've spent a bit of time chatting today and she definitely likes me. We got talking about the managers meeting and both said we'd wished we'd got to speak to each other more. She called me a hottie! (I reciprocated,) and we've arranged to go to an Alexisonfire gig together next month. I have friends up that way, so I mentioned staying with them and she replied, "as long as I get to spend some time alone with you."

I am so jazzed. Just when I started to lose hope in meeting a girl that ticked all my boxes, I get talking to her!
She even wanted me to go visit this weekend! (Unfortunately I can't.) Shame she doesn't live closer, but I'm still stoked.

(Must try to get to the gym more often this month.)

Yowser.

Went to see Ratatouille last night with E. Totally recommend it for anyone who's interested in a good movie, excellent animation and amazing art design. The whole thing was very cool, some great funny moments, some good sweet moments without becoming saccharine and good charactarisation. In short, everything Pixar is known for. Speaking of shorts, the accompanying short, 'Lifted' was very funny too. Sometimes I think I prefer Pixar's shorts to some of the movies, even though they're all great. Lifted was really well executed, especially since there was no real dialogue. This is a company that has actually studied silent movies and gleaned the best of the techniques from those days in order to tell a simple but funny story, simply.
If only more film and animation companies did the same.

Off work again today, but going back in tomorrow. I slept in until about 1pm after staying up until 4am watching Heroes and then getting up at 8.30am to tell my boss I wasn't coming in and then going back to bed.

V has caught my cold and is currently on the sofa watching Quantum Leap, or whatever's on now.

The weather is crap and I've somehow cut the inside of my thumb without noticing until now.

E is coming over shortly to sample the possibly dubious delights of my 6 cheese surprise, (best comment on what the surprise is wins a trip to the pub,) and then probably just end up watching more Heroes, which I am now officially addicted to. Probably my 4th favourite series ever, after Firefly, Spaced and the West Wing.

Hopefully will be going to my first SGUK meet on the 27th, providing it doesn't clash with a house party that my housemate has informed us of. If it does, I might just go to the meet anyway as it will be cool to meet some people from here and I at least know I already have that in common with them. House party could be cool but it depends on the people - on occasion I've ended up nursing a beer without really talking to anyone.

Ummm...

That's it I guess for now.
Tchus.

I'm off work today after catching a cold from a guy who left on Friday. Been feeling a bit crap all weekend. Ah well, it means I've had today off, watching Heroes, (awesome,) and generally dicking about on the interweb.

Had all the managers from our stores down last Thurs and Fri, so got to catch up with some of those guys and try and arrange a messy pissed weekend in Cambridge with our manager from there who is a top bloke and looks like wolverine. (How could you not make friends with someone who looks like wolverine?)

Also met a nice young lady who works in our Edinburgh store and we spent most of the (free) works meal laughing at each other. Always fun.
I managed to speak to our manageress from Chester a little bit (although not as much as I would have liked...) and she actually restored my faith in the possibility of meeting a girl that I would want to go out with a little bit, by being rather attractive and cool and into similar music to me, which is something of an oddity in itself. She added me on Facebook today and MSN, so we've been chatting for a while. We decided we were going to elope to Canada, (in fun,) so we'll see how that goes. wink

Oh and I got vouched into SGUK! Thanks to both Coldandwet and Vindice again. See you on the boards.

Not much to tell. Stayed in on Tues night and started drawing a pin up type girl, working from about 6 reference photos, with one of Ember providing most of the reference for the body. I haven't done any drawing in a while, other than my comic and I haven't worked on that in over 2 months, so it was good to sit down and just draw for pleasure. It's coming out pretty well so far, so once it's done I'll probably put it up here.

Went over to E's last night for the usual 'get fed and then give her a backrub' deal.

Might be going out tonight, waiting to hear from a friend. If not, gym and then more drawing I think.
