The photography business is picking up slightly, I did three shoots this weekend & one was paid, which will be my third paid client. I'm loving every second and trying to throw any spare money at it so it can become my full time job & a successful business.

So the shoot with RosieBlue went really well. We shot two sets on the Sat and were planning on shooting an early morning set at the local skatepark, but when we went down there, there were people camping out nearby due to a dog show. Between that & the lovely lady herself feeling a bit ill the next day, we only shot the two, but considering I took 750 photos for the 1st set & STILL haven't finished photoshopping the 68 I trimmed it down to for the first set & still have all the retouching to do on the 2nd set, maybe it's lucky thing we didn't do more. RosieBlue has decided not to submit the set to SG, so I should be ok posting a few previews. She's landed some modelling work off the back of putting these shots on Model Mayhem, so I guess they can't be too bad.

I've now put up a Facebook page for my photography, as I'm taking it pretty seriously now as a possible future career. So, anyone who wants photos taken, (portraits, family pics for gifts, other stuff,) get in now while I'm still looking for portfolio work!

No, this is a quick blog to say the photography thing is going really well & I've been completely bitten by the bug to the point where I wish I earned 10x the amount I do so I could buy all the cool gear I want. For now it'll have to be as cheap as I can, but I got a free tripod for Father's day, bought a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens (£95) and a 5-in-1 reflector kit (£20, inc. shipping,), so hopefully I'm all ready for this weekend's photoshoot with the lovely RosieBlue, (who should be arriving to bright sunshine in about an hour,) ably assisted in this by my ultra-awesome wife, Pinklet.

Life is good.

My role at work has changed for the next 6 months. I'm currently in charge of organising, facilitating and delivering training for the store. I love it. It's so far removed from what I was doing before & it has definitely allowed me to develop as a person.

I feel like I'm in a state of change at present. I'm getting more & more into photography and wondering more & more why it tool so long for me to realise I love it. I've worked on other people's photos for a long time & graphic design never really worked out for me - I like it but honestly don't feel like I'm good enough to pursue it. Same with web design and programming. Writing and photography are my focus now, although I haven't done a lot of writing lately. I saw that photojojo were looking for writers, but I'm really not sure I have the spare time available to devote to it. It would be pretty cool though & combine two of my passions.

If all goes to plan, you may see an SG related project on here at some point. I don't want to say too much about it at the moment, but it's pretty exciting.

Ugh. Left it too long again. Been meaning to write an update for ages, but I'm always too busy or too tired to do it.

Last update was a brief one in March & before that it was a new year post! Sheesh.

To bring you up to speed:

We now live in Cambridgeshire & I work at my company's store in Cambridge itself. I'm getting on well there, have made some friends at work & generally like 99% of the people there, which is good.

I get the train to work, which is more expensive than the bus was in Bristol, but far more pleasant, albeit still with a few annoyances.

Yes, I've managed to get a personal blog site up. Wordpress & with a default theme as I've not had time to get into designing it, but it's on my "To do: Someday" list.

I've also been writing a short story that I started ages ago & intend to finish. The novel is currently on hiatus, but I will definitely return to it. I was speaking to a customer at work who was a budding novelist & she said generally the first book for authors is about 60-75K words. Mine is just over 60 at present & I'm not quite halfway through. Yikes. Could be a lot of editing to do.

Our daughter turned 1 just over a month ago & is still an absolute joy 89% of the time.

I'm still very active on Twitter & Instagram & even had one of my images highlighted on a weekly forum on Instagram. On that note, I've been truly bitten by the photography bug, (which you can read more about here if you wish,) and splurged out on this bad boy:

A Canon 550D. It's fucking beautiful & it takes amazing pictures. I love it & am seriously considering a 5 year plan to becoming a professional.
