Ok, I forget to mention in my last blog about my recent trip to LAS VEGAS! Back in September I entered a contest on The Mix 101.9 here in Chicago courtesy of Anderson Cooper and won. It was a trip for 2 for 2 day and 3 nights in Caesar's Palace, all expenses paid plus a buffet at tickets to Shania Twain. Well, I couldn't find anybody to go with me at the last minute so i went solo. I left on December 8th and came back on the 10th. I got a shitload of pics too!

That place was NUTS! Even the airports have slot machines in them. And EVERYBODY on the strip is a performer or some kind of artist. My kinda town!

Ok, so I saw the TOTAL RECALL remake last night. It was ok, but Colin Ferrell is no Shwarzeneggar. About the only thing that would garner a PG-13 rating was the girl with 3 boobs. It seems the the whole thing was an homage to the original. They took out the whole Mars element and had some lame political plot. Not to spoil it but in 2084 Earth has been ravaged by war and only 2 continents exist. The United British Nations or some shit and The Colony which is in Australia. Workers have to travel on this giant elevator dubbed "The Fall" that travels past the earth's core. Cohaggen wants to control the Colony with his synthetic police. Visually stunning. great special FX, but the story lacked. They should have just kept the Mars sub-plot. Kate Beckinsale is both Lori (Doug's wife) and Ritcher (Micheal Ironside's character from the original) and Jessica Biel as Melina. Which gets confusing when they fight since they're BOTH brunettes! What I loved about this movie was the fight scene in the elevator (a more conventional one not The Fall) It was ok, but the original is WAY better! also NO FUCKING KUATO!!!!mad

July is a LONG, hot ass month! Yeah no shit right? But I'm glad it's finally over! I hope I get a WINDFALL of cash since I am still one of the unemployed. Wizard World Chicago is coming up and I wanna meet some more SGs. Speaking of SGs:

My scanner sucks, but if you look on Casshas's pic there's a lil dude saying "You say Muhammad Ali I say Cassius Clay".

You get bonus pints if you can tell where that line is from.wink

So what's everybody doing this weekend?

My response to the Colorado theater shootings:

As much a part of the human spirit as the impulse to kill is the desire to not allow oneself to be terrorized psychologically. People are basically stubborn and, after all the dark and lurid blood-soaked episodes in American history and of course the numerous violent, fatal chapters of contemporary world society, people are a mix of numbed, resigned and only rarely completely shocked when murderous incidents like this take place.

We've pretty much seen or heard it all, we're post-everything-evil-&-unspeakable-imaginable--there is no real innocence about bloody murder anymore, we're largely inured to it all. Our psyches are used to this kind of madness, we're desensitized overall, at least as observers or spectators. There's so many monstrous, lethal and/or heinous tragedies, disasters, accidents, slayings, butcherings, brutalizations, victimizations that have happened and been reported in the media so frequently and so sensationally for so many years in America and everywhere else in the world, esp. the 3rd world for anybody who cares to pay attention.

As I type this, godawful grim, ghastly nightmares are going down in the abject hellholes and seedy ghettoes of planet Earth: victims young and old are being exploited, raped, sodomized, assaulted, beaten, bludgeoned, strangled, tortured, knifed, machine-gunned, decapitated, gutted, skinned, slaughtered, psychologically tormented in sickeningly savage, cruel and sadistic ways as unfortunates exposed to barbaric ethnic cleansing or dehumanizing sex slavery or violent hate crimes or brutal wars or destructive uprisings, etc. This happens every single day. The Colorado incident was terrible, but it occupies not a top spot in the virtually unending litany of horrendous crimes and harrowing evil deeds ever committed.

Sure, there is risk everywhere, and anywhere at any time gruesome, devastating, deadly violence may erupt. There are many psychopaths and sociopaths and would-be mass murderers and cravers of infamy out there lurking and hiding and plotting hellacious mayhem, and waiting for the right time to strike at the unsuspecting, and no place is sacred anymore. When you step out the door, in fact even if you never step out of the door at all, you are surrounded by a world of vulnerability to hair-raising mortal dangers.

Still, human life and our diversions from the insanity and animality must go on. We can't spend every waking moment contemplating and fearing death and destruction at the hands of detached, soulless killers. Stay alert, be smart, protect yourself, yet enjoy every unpromised day you get to stay alive and enjoy a flick now and then, pursue your interests or whatever you do that gets you through another day.

Life is short, abounding in the sinister, and overwhelmingly brutish. Even if we don't get blown up or stabbed and/or shot to death or otherwise dispatched/wiped out prematurely somewhere in America. Carpe diem!

Stay vigilant my friends!

So the NEW Total Recall is coming out and people keep saying "It's true to the Philip K. Dick story" That may be but the only Total Recall I know about starred THIS GUY!

This guy right here is in the REMAKE and has had a pretty shitty track record in movies.

Now I don't HATE Colin Ferrell. I thought he was GREAT as Bullseye in the Daredevil movie. But he's no ARNOLD! Then I come to find out it's PG-13? Great, another shitty watered down remake of one of my favorite action movies. Hey Hollywood, if you gonna remake action movies from the 80s/90s, KEEP THEM R rated! Kate Beckinsale is in it but she's NO Sharon Stone either. But she does have a nicer ass wink

I dunno if Kuato is in it or not (I keep calling him Klatu) But they do have the 3 titty girl in it, but since it is PG-13 of course they're gonna cover her up. mad This shit pisses me off! I don't hate remakes or reboots per-say, but if you're gonna do it, DO IT RIGHT!!!!! What do you guys think?
