Late Friday/early Saturday......
I'm sitting up and surfing the web. This is talking me forever because I am a little drunk
I've been drinking my new favorite cocktail Shochu (a Japaneese Spirit distilled from barley, 35% alchol) mixed with cranbreey/rasberry juice. It's sweet and yummy and only takes one to screw up my typing.
I'm never sure exactly what to write here but a little drunken rambling never hurt anyone.
gosh aren't all these little funny smileys funny. ok I am going to stop writing. I am sure that tomorrow i will find this really funny or stupid. Then I will actually have to write another journal entry.
I heart pirates

I am finally back
So after getting bumped off while looking at the boards last night , I return to SG to find an overlapping mess
It would have been nice to get some kind of warning. Somthing like: hey we're updating the site, if you have an outdated browser you may not be able to see the site. So update.
That would have been a great help! I kept checking back thinking that it was just a glitch in the new and improved version of the site. No, you just can't see it with Netscape 6.2 anymore. Well you can see it, it just apperas on to of itself. 6.2 worked just fine on the other version of the site. So as a last ditch effort I checked and found I coudl update to netscape 7.1
I feel much better after venting

going to vote today. I can't believe the circus that is the California Recall.
I can't wait for this to be over so that I can listen to real news.
I also posted new photos of my knit and purl knuckle tattoos. they are placed to show when I am knitting.

I fear I have way over extended myself this weekend.
Friday noonish I have to have my 4 sideshow banners at the Hangar 1018 space to hang for Saturday. Then off to work...I have 3 hours or so to get a drawing done and ready to tattoo, then tattoo it. After that I have a Birthday party to go to. I hope to have time to eat somewhere in there!
EarlySaturday (9:30 is early for me) I have to be up and out for my belly dancing class. Than off to work again. Right when I get off I am going to" the Haunted Dollhouse" group show at Copro Nason Gallery in Culver city. http://www.copronason.com for a quick look at the show, I have several friends in the show and I want to meet Liz McGrath. Then off to my own group show at Hangar 1018. It is on till 3:00am, so I will be there a while. If I wait till the end of the night I can just take any pieces that didn't sell right then. Otherwise I have to get them Sunday before work.
Sunday..... I have to work, but I hope nothing else.... I'm gonna need a nap!

Well I was in a group art show with Cannibal Flower on Saturday. It was a great way fro me to meet other artists in the area. I didn't sell anything but I hear that some gallery owners come to these group shows. I hope this week end I sell somthing at the Cola show.
My stuff is showing in a few places around town, I guess it will just take time and persistance on my part to get me to where I want to be.

You asked about becoming a tattoo artist. I will give you the same
answer I was given: Don't do it! There are too many tattoo artists
already. I started at the same time as 3 other artists, I am the only
one still tattooing.
That being said, my best suggestion is to get an apprenticeship.
you can expect to pay $5000- $10,000 for an apprenticeship. The person
teaching you will be giving up some of the time they could be earning
money, so you need to pay them for it. Otherwise there is little
incentive for them to take time to work with you. And you could be an
apprentice forever (I've seen it happen). Also expect to mop floors,
make needles and scrub tubes, these help your teacher and will give them
more time for you.
I tattooed for 2 years before my apprenticeship and I can't believe
I wasted so much time . The difference in my work was amazing in the
first week .
I know that it is tempting to just get some equipment and start
working on your friends, I know I made that mistake. But the
Apprenticeship process is important. You need to learn how to tattoo
safely to prevent disease transmission. You need to learn your machines,
how to make needles, how to work with skin, which inks work best, how to
draw a tattoo that will look good years from now....and much more.
How do you get an apprenticeship? You find an artist who's work you
like and get tattooed alot, hang out at the shop alot. I would be much
more apt to apprentice someone who I know from the shop, than a complete
stranger. Besides hanging out at the shop you will start to learn how to
work the lobby, pricing and the design process.
The time you put in learning to tattoo will pay off in good tattoos
in the future. Good Luck, you'll need it,
