The Motor City Man-Made Monster Movie Mini-Marathon

My back was even worse today. I probably shouldn't have cleaned the apartment yesterday, but I certainly didn't learn my lesson: I finished cleaning it this evening. I didn't even feel up to getting groceries, so I'm going to have to make due with the mountain of potatoes in my fridge. I don't know how the back and leg are going to feel tomorrow (probably just as bad), but I have to be up for work at 6. There's no calling in sick, either. The whole process to getting out of work for the day is a nightmare, and it usually takes half the workday to accomplish, so I'll see how I feel.

Paisley is going to be in town for the week, so I better suck it up if I don't want to be a shitty host. Hell, I should probably try to take a couple of days off to hang out.

Two birds, one stone.

My account is up on Wednesday. I'll probably stick around.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

At least I know what my playlist is going to be for tomorrow's commute (but that's too easy: it's the same playlist every morning (with some variation, of course)):

I'm sorry your back hurts. Perhaps a nice message would help? When I pulled my shoulder muscle, they worked miracles.

well. a new season of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations starts again tonight. Thank goodness cause there really isn't anything good on TV right now. i know the new entourage started yesterday. there was also harper's island which i didn't necessarily care for but if you like horror/slasher movies, it might be up your alley.
i'm so ready for fall. good (hopefully) tv and it'll start to get cold again!

that sounds like it'll be an interesting wedding. are they incorporating the fact the it is Halloween in it at all?

and i bet the cleaning you did will just make it take a little longer for you to recover. i can't imagine it'll have an effect on what the shot is supposed to do. bed rest is soooo hard to stick to.

do you have a special chair at work? or like.. a bed you can do your work from? wink

Nicely done.

How are you feeling today? were you able to get off work? it sounds like you are having a terrible time. ugh. i feel for you.

so as far as my job goes i have a pretty good amount of freedom. there are days where i could work from bed (if i had a laptop) but there are a lot of days where i have to get up and actually, you know, do real stuff.
i pretty much do everything she is too busy to do. i check her voicemail and type them out to her, make phone calls on her behalf, run errands, schedule appointments and meetings and make travel arrangements. i even helped her figure out stuff for her wedding and i dog sit for her when she needs to. but i mainly just draft documents and spreadsheets she needs for her meetings and try to keep her as organized as possible. she is a self-titled procrastinator and i just trying to keep that at bay as much as possible. and then help her get through it when she needs something last minute.

she's crazy and great and forgetful and probably one of the smartest and most reasonable people i know. so it'd be the best gig if her accountant didnt suck and i could get some insurance. but i love that she understands that and still wants me to work for her when i do get those awesome medical benefits.

dude, you should totally have had a friend come help you clean. next time you get a shot in your spine or you break your leg or whatever, try and enlist some people to do some of that shit for you. i know you are manly and all and probably don't like help but that sucks to have to be in pain that way. (i say all this knowing i would have done exactly the same thing as you, hindsightly looking through a window is 20/20 or something, right?) maybe you should use that mathy mind of yours to invent some sort of machine that does your chores for you when you restricted to bed rest.

nice new picture, btw.

how is your day off? are you doing exciting things you shouldn't be doing? and are they awesome things?

and yes i have been looking. i have been sending out resumes for a bit now. i have had some interviews but nothing has come through that isn't part time (blah) so i may end up having to try and get a job at the local casino here because man oh man do they have some awesome benefits. oh well. i am lucky i have employment so i try (key word: try) to not get too frustrated with the whole thing.

anyway, i totally feel you on the whole worried about being disabled thing. my dad is disabled because of his back too. he also has a neurological condition that makes it hard for him to remember things and sometimes he just can't hold onto things with his fingers. i don't have the same things but i definitely have my medical battles. my most noticeable symptoms are chronic migraines that include something called hemiplegic migraines. i am supposed to grow out of them but i worry that i will still have the regular kind and it'll make me a crappy parent (when i get to that point.) yay stuff. being reliant on other people is really hard and i know i have pushed people completely away because i am trying to prevent that. yay stuff.

maybe you should get netflix. its decently priced and they have a lot of No Reservations dvds available smile
