I may have possibly overreacted.

And that's probably the paralyzing Irish guilt talking.

I feel like a dick.

Subscription is still up in a month, so we'll see where this goes.

Ya needs a gud Scottish whippin!!! Ya filthy Irishman!

As for the $900, I'm totally fucked out of that but my landlord is VERY cool. I told him about it and he'll be cutting me some slack on the 1st of the month. He's giving me an extra 2 weeks to pay him next months rent. But it's gonna be hell getting it together by then.

Nothing to worry about with the over reacting. When you pull a joker_ then, then you can truly be embarrassed wink Glad to see your typing.

Well, whatever is right for you my friend.
I'm apparently a little late to the party but you should know you've got a ton of friends and support out here any time you need us.

You weren't overreacting, you were having a shitty time. I usually have things build up to a crisis point, have a good solid breakdown, and then get down to business. It seems to be very effective.

Also, being Ryan Reynolds is not required, it is merely a plus.

i have had to refrain from drinking recently because i have discovered that when i am drunk, all i want to do is run around and (shout)quote it. it drives my friends crazy and i don't want to be that girl.

I applied to University of Washington and Seattle Community College when I still lived in Washington, they both had different policies for military credit but I never got around to getting them transferred since I didn't take classes so I don't know specifics. MTSU, my current school, took my credits as they were listed on my SMART transcript, regardless of whether or not the school had a similar course. Later, they let me request substitutions for general studies physics and chemistry. I still have the other credits, mind you, they just don't count for anything but electives, since my major has jack taco to do with nuclear power. I think that the Navy overinflates the value of the college credits from the nuke program, it's not very useful unless you're going for some sort of degree in engineering technology. If you're looking into a specific college, you can probably find their policy for substituting military transfer credits for degree requirements somewhere on their website.

Also a lot of people will tell you, "hey, a degree is a degree! just go for the cheeseball nuclear engineering technology degree!", but in my opinion that is simply not true unless you're talking about being accepted into an officer program. Real employers actually look for people with specific training. However, one benefit you will get out of the Navy Nuclear program is the ability to stomp the shit out of puny college courses. Everything seems so easy after being through all of that shit. So don't sweat if you're worried that you'll spend a lot of time taking classes you didn't want to take, they'll be cake.

Navy talk aside, my suggestion to you would be to find something you are genuinely interested in instead of something that sounds like it will be useful. As you've likely learned during your Navy career, it's not really useful to be doing something that makes you miserable. I started college with the intention of majoring in physics, and I quickly changed my mind once I realized that I'd have to take a buttload of math because my interest in physics didn't overshadow my hatred of math. Then I decided I wanted to do political science, then pre-law, and my macroeconomics gen ed class made me decide that I wanted to get a PhD in economics, which ironically requires a shit ton of math, but it doesn't bother me because I now have a genuine interest in math that stems from my enjoyment of economics. So I guess if you're genuinely interested in mechanical engineering, go for it, otherwise take some intro classes to some subjects that sound interesting to get a feel for what you want to do. I suspect that "something in liberal arts to keep me happy" signifies that you're not really happy with doing mechanical engineering though. wink
