There's an old saying...
"I can't tell you the secret to success, but I can tell you that the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

I'm one of those people who tries to please everybody, combine that with an inability to say "no", and you have a recipe for disaster.
When circumstances beyond a person's control forces them to make decisions that disappoint people, how those people handle disappointment, says a lot about their character and maturity. Some people handle disappointment with class, grace and understanding. Refusing to respond with claims of being "lied to" or cheated out of their hard earned money. (most all of us work hard for their money)
While others refuse to remember that it is the nature of things to change and no matter how much planning we may do there is always a possibility that things will not work out the way we would have wished.

It is easy to forget all of the things that a person has done for us when we are angry at that person.
On a lighter note...

don't worry about what those catty bitches have to say. To imply, no, downright SAY what rigell did starting that thread forever ago was right is sickening!! puke Even after sean went in there to clean up her mess, to throw that in your face after what you were going to have to pay for that shoot? Give me a break. whatever whatever whatever

It bitch about the money they had to spend to get waxed and 'git thur nailz did' is straight stupid. Do wither of them have children? I forgot, are they supporting a family like you are? Lets add up the costs here:

2 wax jobs at a 3-4 star spa $100 at most
2 mani/pedis at the same type of spa $100

cost of studio per hour: $________
cost of makeup (itsy) $________
cost of your time to photoshop/film $_________

hmmm....

YOU are the one thats right in saying that you are going to have to only shoot women who stand a chance of getting accepted. There are plenty of photog hopefuls who can meet up with those 2 (itsy aside) and pay to shoot them, and good luck to them, they'll need it. oink

uh, did I miss something? Don't SG Photographers and SG themselves, only shoot girls that they think have a chance of being accepted, and leave the rest to their own resources?

Thanks, both of you. I'm way too generous with my time and money when it comes to helping others and it creates a lot of stress on the home front, esp. with my wife being a C.P.A. Everything is viewed from a financial angle. I have always been an artist (Painting, silkscreen printing and now, photography) and artists are known for their poor money management skills.
If I was smart I would have my wife be my manager and everyone would have to go through my wife to set up a shoot. That would stop a lot of shit and grief.
Oh, and RPG, When SG changed the number of sets required to be an official photographer from 3 to 5, my then, only 4sets took me out of the rankings and stopped me from being able to invoice SG for Hopefuls sets as well. Then when Troa's "Struck Out" set went live, I sent an email to Sean, Missy, Zoetica and Rigel, pointing out that I once again had the required number and asked if I would be given back my official status.
I only heard back from Rigel who was happy to inform me that having 5 sets doesn't automatically make me an official photographer and that my work wasn't good enough yet. (Good enough for 5 sets to be accepted but not good enough to start receiving referrals).
It's all good though, I have a full time job and a family which is my biggest priority and this way I get to pick and choose with whom and when I shoot.
Have a great weekend. smile

eeek eeek eeek eeek eeek 5 accepted sets and your'e not good enough to start receiving referrals. What a joke.

I always try to balance the business of photography with the artistic aspect, so I still manage to do a lot of free shoots....but only after I'm sure the bills are paid, and I've answered the question "why am I doing this shoot for free". Sometimes, the answer is just because it's going to give me some joy, but other times, there's business reasons.

but I can't shoot SG Hopeful sets, and I'm ok with that.

I think that quote may have just changed my life. This may sound strange, but thank you for posting that.

Wow, someone had sour grapes, from the looks of it. whatever

That's a shame you have to go through BS like that from girls that have nothing better to do than shit on others.

You're good people, man. Door closes, window opens and all that. Best of luck. smile
