Okay so I have a job interview Tuesday at Spa Cafe downtown.

I will pretty much cry if I don't get this job. It's from 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday. And I want to keep it during the year so I'm willing to make one of my MWF classes at 8am instead of 1pm so I can work.

I'm probably going to have to lie about that though because I'd only be able to work MWF from about 12 to 4 so I doubt that they'll want someone who can only work three days a week (Tues/Thurs I have class until 3:45). What should I say? That I don't know my schedule completely yet? And I'm going to Seattle & BC for uhh... 9 days. Is that something that could keep me from getting the job?

I'm also worried because I have no job experience. And I'd be a counter person/cashier and I've never used a cash register before (so I don't know any systems, etc.). I'm also a little math retarded so I'm worried about making change for people. Would he have me practice that in an interview?

Man. I suck at this sort of thing.

Oh, so, I don't have my glasses for at least a week which sucks so bad, I can't read very well without them/a lot or my head feels funny after. I'm getting bifocals. Which I've been told I should be embarrassed about? No se.

I mean I'm getting them because my eyes have trouble focusing when reading and through long distances. Which totally makes sense to me because my eyes freak out post-reading and I have trouble focusing on signs, etc. while driving.

But I don't need like granny frames or anything. I'm keeping my regular glasses for now and then if I can't handle it I'm just getting two pairs of glasses. One for distance and one for reading. Which would be annoying. So I'd rather go with bifocals so I can see the board in class AND read my notes at the same time, if need be.

I've just been told I won't be able to see things out of the corner of my eye... Which confuses me as to how I'm going to drive with them? Whatever.

I babble a lot. Sorry whoever's actually reading this.

Oh I dyed my hair last night. Strawberry "blonde". It just looks lighter red to me. My best friend was freaking the fuck out ('cause we were dying our hair together) about doing hers blonde blonde, but it ended up looking brown but like one shade lighter. If even. So she freaked out for nothing.

We also saw a duck in the middle of a residential street for no reason. It was really weird.

For you Chicagoans who know these places, we went to Stella's and House of Hookah for my birthday. It was enjoyable. We also walked on the beach and I tweaked out because it was fucking dark and there were people everywhere. Oh, did I mention I had my eyes dilated and they were still slightly dilated at this point? It was weird. And then when we walked back creepy guys in tshirts for someone's bachelor party were wooing so I wooed and then a really drunk one made a creepy face and attempted to whistle. Another one later also touched my friend's arm. She disliked that.

Men, don't be creepy drunks. Especially at bachelor parties. That's tacky.

My ma made us eat cake before we left. It was chocolate cake with raspberry like... fruit...shit inside it as frosting. And then orange frosting and crazy decorations. It was a "tattoo cake" from Bleeding Heart Bakery. Pretty nummy but I was entirely fully when we got to Stella's.

It's interesting. It seems like less than a quarter of the people I know have actually found jobs. Stupid "recession".

Good luck with the interview, hope you get it.

Cash registers are pretty easy, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

Good luck with the interview. Don't worry about your schedule changing in a few months - deal with that in a few months. They know they are hiring a student. Tell them your schedule is flexible and let them see what kind of a worker you are first. I have a good feeling about it. Go in with the thought in your head that you WILL get this job. Be confident, but not arrogent and you get it.

Don't cry little one.

Bifocals will be good whichever way you look at it... biggrin

Do you think jobs are so scarce because so many people are having to work 2 or even 3 jobs just to stay afloat?

That is true.

Come to think of it, in my last job 4 out of 6 of us in the team at staff level had all been managers in previous roles.

I don't think you'd look like a grandma with bifocals. I think you'd look like a sensible person who would want to be able to see long distances, and read without swapping glasses.

Also, on behalf of men everywhere, I'd like to apologize. I went to a bachelor party for my brother in law, and there was a stripper there and everyone was acting like idiots. I just didn't get it.
