I've been following SG for 5 years now, off and on.
I love all the girls with 2 tattoos or 200 tattoos - simple ear piercing or metal popping up in places you couldn't even conceive previously. Now butterfly tattoos are qualifiers for alternative? More and more, I'm seeing over eager girls posting grainy myspace-esque shots while taking it off within the first thumb giving the camera the porn star eye... and I'm sad.
Call me crazy...

but it still makes me sad.
Alt. girls! Where are you and why aren't you getting naked anymore?

The problem is that once something becomes popular, people want to emulate it. This isn't inherently bad, it just means change. Though, I think you're right about the butterfly tattoo thing-- not that a butterfly immediately makes it impossible to be considered "alt", but because alt is really an idea or a way of thinking about and perceiving the world. Girls and women like the one in that picture are basically the same as those you see in Playboy (which, also, isn't inherently bad just because it's the accepted "norm"). The only difference between the two is that one generally has zero-to-one tattoo or piercings and the other has several. But the mentality is the same. Alternative isn't about appearance, though it obviously helps denote it to the uninitiated, it's about who you are... I find the best way to determine this is by looking at the eyes.
Sorry to go on there, I've just noticed a lot of people seem to be concerned about this recently and I finally had a chance to respond to someone.

Well, I think there are still quite a few true SG spirits walking these halls. But, I'm still new-ish, so maybe I don't see all the intricate differences that you, and others who brings this up, do.
Oh, and "money shots" aren't inherently bad, either.
