I can respect that you want to not offend him the one thing i've always learned in a relationship its both meeting in the middle if we both aren't happy then i would make sure we can both at least meet in the middle but if this is what makes him happy then i can respect that but you have to be happy as well if this is what you want just remember there are ways where you don't have to give up your dreams and he won't think you are just showing your stuff off but there is always choices.

i hope he knows too ...are you gonna renew and maybe put off the new set for awhile or are you saying goodbye for good?? and your recommendation is to jump right in?? head first?? luckily i've got some time to really consider what i want to do...he and i are both pulled in opposite directions for the next week, and then he's out of town and then i'm out of town, so i'm just doing a lot of thinking until mid-August, when i actually have to deal with it...that should be enough time for me to figure my shit out, right?!?

I would have to say i mean if you truly feel that its the right thing to do and you will be happy with your decision then i say do what it takes to be with him but at the same time a relationship is always about partnership both sharing so if this is what will make things work then i say go for it.

Well, I guess you have to ask yourself ... what would make you happier ?

maybe I'm just gotten inflexible in my old age ... well maybe not. I remember this great girl, H, she was living out East (Richmond, VA) ... we were starting to think about moving closer to each other. (long time on-off-on again thing, I was in my early 20s). She was looking at her next step of schooling to be in St. Louis, MO. And I knew at that time, my future laid out west in California. She said she could never move to California because it would be too far from her parents in Penn, and St. Louis was as far west as she'd go. It was a compromise for her, and she was doing it just for me. I broke up with her, and told her not to move to STL. Later that year, I got a job over to move to California. And now I'm here, and very successful.

I don't believe in changing and molding myself into a person my partner wants. That isn't me. I want her to be her own person.

I'd say ditch the bf, get naked, and then find a liberal Californian atheist.

Well. I mean do whatever makes you happy. I assumed that is what would make you happy.

If you do want someone else wants you to do, or prevents you from doing what makes you happy ... you'll later develop a deep resentment for them and be very unhappy.
